ok it's out so let's chat it up. I'm a beginner-novice at the series, but I love them. Favorite 3d fighter since VF3. If people here play, share some light with some good advice for beginners like me, or just say who your favorite character is and who you play as most of the time.
Picked up VF5 yesterday. I love the game, though I'm nowhere near the skill level of all the great players out there. I've put time into VFs 3, 4, and now 5. Oh and also the first two in the arcades. Used to play as Jacky in the first two, and in 5 I'm trying Eileen and enjoying the way she plays so far.
Best piece of advice I've ever heard on VF is to try and learn the at least the basics of every character, so that when you settle on someone you like, you know how all the others play and have an idea of what to expect. The depth in this game always astounds me and I've never been super good at them, but they're fun.
The Saturn ports of the first two games always made me wish I had owned a Saturn.

My main character is Jacky, who I generally use most of the time. This is more than likely going to change once I've finished training with Goh and Pan.
I can't believe I'm going to eventually buy a PS3 just for this stupid fucking game.

If it makes you feel any differently, the game is going to also be on 360 sometime later this year. If it's purely a cash issue, you could save some money going that route, at the cost of waiting longer. That said I'm happy with the PS3 version, but ultimately I'm glad they're going to spread this game to the widest home audience they can cause it's pretty cool.

I'm aware of that, but I was eventually going to pick up the PS3 down the road as a Blu-Ray player, anyhow. Besides, I am an absolute whore when it comes to fighting games, especially the Virtua Fighter series.
