Drez are you saying you want to prevent auto-syncing or you want to prevent auto-backups when syncing?
What I want is to just add the goddamn media I fucking want to add without fucking locking my device down for twenty minutes while it does a backup, determines which apps to sync, transfers shit back and forth that I didn't ask it to transfer, and so on.
But yes my question was focused on the latter: preventing auto-backups when synching.
You see how there is a progress bar at the top of the application while iTunes syncs? You can just hit the little X while it's in the backup stage- canceling the backup doesn't interrupt or cancel the sync.
If that's not good enough for you- if you want it to be automated- there's an .xml fix (and I'm pretty sure an application exists, too).
I can find one or both of those for you, if you'd like?

I spent most of the night playing Supreme Commander 1 and 2. Still like both. Still am able to smash the normal AI on 2 but die to it on 1. Hell easy on 1 can woop me sometimes. Still feel they have the coolest battles though.

I've had a really, really, really pleasant experience with iTunes in Windows and OSX for media and device management with iPods and iPhones... so I always try to find ways for other people to find it as enjoyable as I do.

Well, it's not just iTunes. I also hated it with my Zune.
I think synching is an absolutely abhorrent concept and I hope it goes away. But it probably won't.

Ugh I have over 2 gigs of page outs. I really ought to just spring for some more RAM. It's so cheap I could probably grab it on my welfare salary.
Chu, is there a good way to import contacts to iOS/iPad/whatever? I have a blackberry and I'd like to export those contacts and import them to my iPad contact list.

I can use TeamViewer (free remote desktop software) to access iTunes on my desktop.
I can then sync porn to my iPad using the wireless sync option in iTunes.
I may never leave my bed again.
