With Skyrim coming in just a few short days. (15, but its not like I'm counting.) I wanted to upgrade my computer just a bit. I was thinking about getting a SSD to load the game on, I have a small SSD that just holds windows at the moment. I was then going to upgrade my 6Gigs of RAM to 8Gigs. And the last item I was going to do was the graphics card. (Is it worth it?)
Currently I have a EVGA 012-P3-1472-AR GeForce GTX 470 (Fermi) SuperClocked 1280MB 320-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card. I was thinking of trying to get another GeForce GTX470 and use them in SLI, but I have never done this before and I am worried about it. Is it better to just get a new card? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.
Yeah, SSD performance gains are more visible in the operating system than in games really. You'd lower your load times, but i mean...like the poster before me said 5 seconds vs 15 seconds sort of deal. Do you really want to pay $150+ so you can load theoretically 10 seconds faster in Skyrim?
You can probably get a 470 for pretty cheap these days as well, used or discounted often I am sure. If you want to do SLI that would be a reasonably priced option for you for sure. IT really isn't hard to do, just make sure you have enough power in your power supply to handle the extra load.

I agree with tycho.
The SSD would be the best upgrade out of all of those options but it's not critical. You could leave your computer as is and it would run decently from what we have been hearing spec. wise out of Bethesda. I would advice against upgrading until you need it. Why run the risk of screwing up your machine before the game comes out?

Loading the game from an SSD won't have a significant effect on load times (might go from 15 seconds to 5 seconds, but what does that really matter?).
