About to post some important tweets, so please pay attention. It seems someone posted their MGR results screen and that people (mainly in the West) are shocked it says the clear time is 5.5hr. Here's the truth: First of all, cutscenes ARE NOT INCLUDED in that counter.Next: For every chapter you play in the game, it ONLY COUNTS YOUR FASTEST TIME. It doesn't track your total play time. What that means is if you replay a chapter for 10 hours, but you finally clear it in a time of 10 mins. Only 10 mins will be counted.
So please don't get fixated on that end screen Clear Time being total game time because it is not. As I said, it is not how long you've had the power on playing MGR, it is a record of your best efforts playing the game. We came up with this clear time counting system as a way to fairly evaluate players. It hasn't changed since Bayonetta. However, I will say it is really disappointing that people try to use a single screen in the game to try and create negative buzz.
(PSN: Morninglord) (Steam: Morninglord) (WiiU: Morninglord22) I like to record and toss up a lot of random gaming videos here.

Man Rising's soundtrack got me pumped up to play some MGS music. Think it'd be neat to do like a medley of tracks from the 4 MGS titles, start with The Best Is Yet To Come, then RAY Escapes or Solidus' action music, then the Bike Chase music and end with Old Snake leading into the MGS Main Theme.
...or just do a cover of the MGS theme that starts off all MIDI like, goes all MGS2 epic and electronic, go jazzy guitar for MGS3 and then end with acoustic MGS4.
Some of the music in MGS is just, so good. I remember just totally falling in love with MSG1, and then being so excited that it'd get a graphically better remake in Twin Snakes, and then I got it...and for some reason some of the music was different and it just made the experience just feel....off.
Last night I wondered how Raiden can speak intelligibly without a lower lip, then started reading all his lines out while stumbling through the m's, b's, p's, f's, and v's like a ventriloquist. It was kind of hilarious. Must be a cyborg voice box.

He has a cyborg voice box! Sometimes in MGS4 he's so badly damaged he can't move his jaw, so his voice comes out through a synthesizer.
That said! The way his mouth moves so unnaturally in MGR did jump out at me sometimes. I don't recall it ever looking weird in MGS4.

Oh okay, that does make sense. I was not trying to make an argument about Revengeanance being bad or anything, just that personally, if the game really was only 5 hours long that is too short for me to spend $60 on. Considering that's not hte case, I might pick this up over Dead Space 3 come next paycheck.

How come he has weird white blood in MGS4 and red blood now?
Cyborgs use new muscle stuff that uses red blood, and doesn't need to be dialyzed. Mainly cause cybernetic stuff is used for amputees now, and having them go on dialysis for life sounds inconvenient.
Oh brilliant

Actually it is slightly odd because it's not red in japan, it's still white. It's censorship related. I think they decided to switch it to red because PG know we like the reds here.

The in-game explanation is pretty good though, and does directly address the white > red blood switch. How that explanation flies in the Japanese version I wouldn't know though...

I thought this was a good idea so I started!
Did you know there's a surprising lack of MGS MIDIs out there for me to start from? :I
Finally finished the game. That was one great romp! The final chapter was not quite up to Jubileus levels, but pretty friggin satisfying nonetheless. I got a real kick out of Raiden using
the arm from the Metal Gear to blade mode... I was also hoping for Raiden to pull a "Metal Gear?!"
I do think they did a good job at separating the game plot from the gameplay. It still carries on the tradition of rather lengthy in-depth-explain-everything codec calls, but all of that stuff is optional. You can still access it, but it doesn't break the gameplay too horribly.
It also took me all the way up to NG+ to realize... I had been using an entirely un-upgraded HF blade through the entire game. Not that the game FELT any harder, but it does explain why I was slogging through the bosses 0.1% by 0.1% of their health...
Raiden asked him if he'd heard of "Gubayama" and Wolf said it might mean mountain or a sumo wrestler. Raiden had heard it "from an AI"
What's he talking about?
This is a reference to MGS2, towards the end of the game.
It is?
(very very late game MGR spoiler!)
I just assumed it was because apparently Armstrong was trained in sumo wrestling (taking the sumo stomp pose before the fight and everything), and "Governor-yama" would be shortened to "Gov-yama," then corrupted to "Gubayama" because the v sound doesn't exist in Japanese. But then, that's the kind of crap I deal with all day, so I'd expect things to chain together like that.
Huh. For the "listen to all codecs" trophy, do you suppose you have to actually let them play out...? I was tapping the triangle to read faster, because there was so much talk, and I never got the trophy. I did call up everybody at pretty much every point until they started repeating themselves, too.

Raiden makes reference to "The Colonel". There has only ever been one instance in which "The Colonel" "AI" "Gubayama" and "Shibomnigee" ever come together.

When Campbell goes crazy over the codec this is one of the messages he can give you when you call him.

yeah this does shine some light on this part, when they're like "he barely had any cyborg parts" I was like what, how can you even tell, he looks pretty cyborgy
kinda makes me wish the US version used white blood still, that part would've had much more of an impact to me

Oh. Right. Sure. Plot stuff.
I honestly did not think of that. I'm just not setup that way.
Can't blame you. Unlike every other Metal Gear game, MGR's plot doesn't matter.
That's platinum for ya!

Does this include the fancy controls and graphics upgrade the PS3 version has? Or just the bog standard PSP version.
Because I can't in good conscience recommend that version with the horribly dumpy controls. I think I have PTSD from those controls...
