so today Conrad Murray received the guilty verdict of Involuntary Manslaughter of the King of Pop, Michael Jackson.





what are your thoughts, SE++?

should he have received a gentler/harsher verdict? maybe malpractice tacked on as well?

I really think Murray got off lucky

He contributed a great deal to one of the most legendary singers ever dying, and the most punishment Murray can get is 4 years in jail, probation, and having his medical license permanently revoked

i thought if a doctor messed up they just got sued for malpractice

Malpractice and criminal negligence or whatever he got are different. One is that you fucked up but it was a mistake and I think happens in the office/work setting. Like you killed someone on the operating table.

Porscribing surgery anesthetics and giving them to a dude with a problem in a home setting and not monitoring their use is different.

Would this case be happening if it weren't Michael Jackson, but rather some random person?

I'm sure the answer is no, but I don't know the full details other than it involved Michael Jackson and everyone in Gary Indiana took a week off of doing nothing when he died.
