So I didn't start playing these kinds of games until Black Ops. I enjoyed Black Ops quite a bit only due to the MP but after a while I just got bored of the lack of team control and the repeatative bullshit for a few perks.

Recon Drone is another great support item, you get to fly around and tag enemies and turrets for points and they'll show up for teammates (also turrets no longer need care packages for you to get).
And Juggernauts are pretty tough, but it's satisfying when you actually take one down.
My gamertag is the same as my forum name, by they way.
Stayed at the girlfriend's place last night, got a phone call around 12:30 saying my roommates got MW3.
Girlfriend gets supremely angry that my friends want me to go home and play MW3 all night, large amount of yelling at my general person ensues, told her I wasn't leaving and that I told them I wasn't going to play with them tonight.
She kicks me out and I go play MW3 anyways. Pretty awesome game I gotta say.
Well she sure showed you!
I've played about an hour of the campaign, one game of the multiplayer...seems pretty similar so far, haven't looked into what are supposed to be the cool new MP modes. Pretty much this is exactly what I wanted. Going to be pretty frustrated until I level up a bit and learn the maps.

Is this a game I can skip?
There's offensive kill streaks for those who like to charge ahead and support streaks which award you things like Counter UAVs and Jammers and stuff with the streak carrying over even if you die. So it kinda of encourages more team-like behavior.
I had some issues where people would come around the corner spraying bullets at me before they could have known I was there then in the killcam it shows them taking a human amount of time to notice me and aim at me, which was annoying.
Then I either got in a lobby with a bunch of terrible people, got host, or both, and went 66 and 8.
My friend is working on a roguelike game you can play if you want to. (It has free demo)

What has changed significantly enough to warrant 60$?
Really the main difference is the killstreaks, which can be tailored per class and are in 3 categories
Assault is your typical 'kill dudes for stuff' and is based around offense. Support gives you points for kills/objective completion/shooting down air support, etc and doesn't reset after death and are largely for helping your team. Specialist allows you to choose an extra perk every two kills, and I believe at 8 kills you get every perk, it also resets upon death
Also using your weapon levels it up, and you can get proficiencies that are a perk for your weapon, like less recoil
Otherwise it is pretty similar

How is the multi-player compared to Black Ops? I never played MW2 or any other COD game aside from Black Ops. I alternately had an awesome time or an awful time with Black Ops, there was very little middle ground.
The changes to killstreaks sound intriguing. How do they play out?
Does Kill Confirmed suceed in eliminating camping?
Is the counterpart to Ghost going to break the game?
Are shotguns still awful? What about the Masterkey-style underslung shotgun?

Killstreaks work out well since when you play the Support variant you can still get combat killstreaks. Also downing UAV's counts towards your kill count when you work as support which is fantastic. In general it's just easier to get to use cool stuff.
Kill Confirmed eliminates camping in a limited sense but not entirely. The thing about CoD is that it becomes a camping game because, while mechanically the game is fast and a twitch shooter, that requires you to have to think a little slower when you decide to do things. If you fuck up you aren't really allowed to recover, so most people just avoid moving since it's harder to fuck up.
Blind Eye (the new Ghost) is fucking awful it's not worth using

I've never had a problem with people camping, I thought that was what the killcams were for. You see where he is, and if he stays there, you murder him.

I am not super hyped about either one, but I have been deprived of a good FPS for about a year.
and the spawning is still fucked
but i like the change to kill streaks and the weapon unlocks
This can mean either really fun, fast paced action, or extremely frustrating, fast paced action
it's a lot of fun
some frustrating stuff like MW2 but i find that part of the fun
just going "how the hell did he hit me!!?"
and then respawning and killing everyone
Is this a game I can skip?

Meant to get it on PC and Xbox 360.
gah.
i don't even own a Wii.
damnit.
Just... how... I don't...
How does this happen?

Now that you mentioned it, he probably just scanned the forum and went; "Jackpot tiger."
I didn't know it even came out for the Wii. It took 'em long enough just to port CoD4.

what is it
I'm pretty sure it is
I looked away when it happened, though.

it's a good mix of tactics and deathmatch
The netcode can't be as horrible as I've been experiencing, can it?

It is the yearly call of duty iteration. Not a whole lot.
kind of an over simplification
but not entirely inaccurate
i would say more was removed than added from BLOPS
I take back what I said about regretting buying this, but at the same time I'm really glad I didn't buy elite.
Staring down Price's Desert Eagle was no picnic, either. Don't wanna be on that man's bad side.
I'm going to ~~shower~~
then I will be online in ~~campaign~~
I want as many people as I can get for a multiplayer team so let's all add T4CT to our friend's list since I just did a pretty-much clear of it
and then we'll be GOOD TO GO
meet in 20 minutes yaaaaay
Yeah, that's about where I stopped last night. If nothing else the setpieces in this game are awesome to look at.

Shotguns I haven't even noticed so there's that

Got one game in, left, then started getting server errors for another 15 minutes before I went to bed.
