Okay. Basically, I got a new credit card with a $500 limit and I'm looking to upgrade my PC. I'm going to need a new motherboard, CPU, RAM, case, and video card. I picked a couple things out already, but I need some clarification.
I currently have a pair of IDE hard drives. I'm going to buy a new 300 gig one soon, but one thing's confusing me. This motherboard I want to get has two ATA-133 channels and two SATA ports. What the fuck is SATA? I'm guessing that I won't be able to use my old drives, right?
CPU I might get is an AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+. Looks to be better than my 64 3500+, and it's fairly cheap in a motherboard combo in Pricewatch.
Current video card I'm looking at is a Geforce 7900GS. I'd get a GT but that's a bit more than I can afford.
Sound card I already have something I'm good with. RAM, I'm looking to get probably... Oh, I'd say 2 gigs or so for now.
Any other suggestions? Help me, PA!
