how does it work if you purchase a game, and later purchase a higher level version of the same game? ie, game of the year edition or something.
Does it replace the entry for the vanilla game?
I bought Fallout NV, and am anticipating buying the GotY, but I really don't want it showing up as 2 entries in my games list.
Anyone know what happens?
I have both Fallout 3 and Fallout 3 GOTY in my list. Just make a category for games you never play and throw it in there.
Oh my god.
How did I not know about categories.
This is so useful.
Categories are great. I have a 'bleh' one for shit I didn't like or don't want to play anymore. 'Beaten' for games I have actually finished (hooray), and 'backlog'. Then I threw all the various half-life mods, sequels, episodes, etc. into their own category, and another one for the id pack I stupidly purchased on a whim one time.
If you're looking for a discount on Skyrim, mentioned earlier D2D has a flat 20 percent off order coupon on their site, so decent savings on some brand new games.
So I need to get rid of this extra copy of Alpha Protocol before I take advantage of my brother working at a winery & bistro right next to the local microbrewery brewpub so here we go.
The Martini the classy gentlemans drinks popularized by classy gentleman spy James Bond himself. The another thing about this classy king of cocktails is you throw whatever the fuck into the glass and it is now a whatever-the-fucktini. So PM your best whatever-the-fucktini recipe and the classiest one get's you a copy of Alpha Protocol when I get back home.
Bought Reaxxion the other day because I love brick breakers.
Placed Reaxxion in the "waste" bucket of my steam categories because I found out about the existence of shatter. omg so good.
PS my categories (since there were brought up on this page)
1- Now Playing
2- Next Up
3- Arcade (endless stuff like binding of isaac)
4- Multiplayer
5- Backburner (games that I wont get to for awhile.)
8- Beaten
9- Abandoned (Not fun enough to continue playing.
9.5- Waste (Stuff that came bundled with other crap. Like Halflife 2 and its episodes from the orange box)

Congrats to Shapeshifter, who is the winner of my Steamgifts Mass Effect 2 giveaway!
As a reminder, I'm also running one for Fallout: New Vegas, and there's still a whole day left to enter that - only seven people on board so far, so your odds aren't bad.

is Reaxxion bad or just not as good as Shatter? Shatter is pretty amazing!
It should give you a key that you would then put into steam in order to unlock the game. Just save the key and email it to her (or do what Figgy did and print it out on a classy Metro-themed card).
Reaxxion isn't bad and I may even try playing it again. The hook seems to be that you can "spend" your paddle to create another ball (you shorten your paddle to launch another ball). But this is gathered from like 3 minutes of play just to try it out.
But man its no where as good looking as shatter. And the Push/Pull hook is way more interesting, imo.
So, hey, anyone played Sequence? I recently saw it, it looks like a dream game, rhythm plus RPG, and it's real cheap, so I was thinking of getting it.
Its a fun concept, but I lost a bit of interest when I realized how "grindy" it is. You have to farm drops to create items. So sometimes you're playing the same song like 8 times in a row if you're a completionist.

I picked it up a few days ago. It seems pretty solid, although I'm only on the second level. One minor irritant is that it feels a bit grindy. I would have liked more than three songs per floor to kill monsters to (and one of the songs on the second floor is from the first floor) but the actual gameplay manages to stay relatively diversified due to the random nature of when you get attacked.
It's a pretty fun premise but my complaint I suppose would be that it doesn't push it very far and it doesn't do it as diversely as I'd like. But still, I feel like I got more game than its current price.

I finally picked it up as it was on sale and it is great fun. Starman mentions it's grindy which it is a bit I guess but I've yet to find a rhythm game that doesn't have you playing the same songs at some point even if just again for fun.
I thoroughly recommend it. The writing is funny and there is enough stuff to fiddle around with to make it more than just hitting notes at the correct time.
I will do a very happy dance on the day they allow me to set multiple categories for one game. At least at the moment the search button searches category titles so i can search "new" and get a view of my entire backlog or something.
Hmmm...I thought about gifting Patrician IV, but reviews for it are not very positive.
I was thinking of getting that but as you say, it doesnt look amazing. Still waiting for Anno 2070 I guess, I love peaceful building games the most. I wish there were more.
Also, no-one entered my Serious Sam Second Encounter competition. So as punishment to you all, I will send the game to random posters as has become my custom this week.
minor incident managed to scare the crap out of me with a gift. I had just accepted a friend request from TeacherTom (sorry, don't know who this is on the forums) and as I was about to click the profile link to get a better look a gift notice popped up out of nowhere. Like it came from the shadows...shadows I will be lurking in as Vin fucking Diesel in Chronicles of Riddick. Thanks as always, señor!
Also, let it be known that TPSou is the classiest sort of gentleman educator, as I have just received a surprise gift of Serious Sam to distract me from trying to remember how to make an image work in a post.
So I grabbed the Space Marine deal on Thq site and they got my money according to my bank but no email or code or anything so far. I think this happened to me last year on a DoW buy from them but I can't remember how I fixed it.

How peculiar! I myself had almost the same experience, except I was the recipient of Serious Sam HD: The Second Encounter! This phenomenon of sudden TeacherTom giftings is one which bears further scientific investigation!

This is actually the best post in the thread.
Oh my god.

Also, it's getting hard to keep track of my wishlist now. Just now I went to put Riddick on it and it's already ON there.
I am weak.

Good enough for me... is Skyrim steamworks?

Yup!
If only Space Marine was $8 cheaper I would be in for it.
Yes it is.

I'll still carry on to beat it, though.

I want to know more PA people on Twitter.

Mine have been erased again.
Le sigh.
