So, the 1990s were an especially rad time for film soundtracks. No, not film scores. Get that shit out of here. You had movies angling to use popular music in a capacity even more expansive than 1980s movies, and you had people betting entire careers on corralling angsty 90s musicians and breaking new talent and treating soundtracks as a fucking curatorial experience.
Whether documenting a place and time or attempting to market a new one.
Recontextualizing classics sometimes worked well.
Some captured a modern struggle.
Some gambled on a future that thankfully never was, because synthesizers don't sound nearly as shit anymore.
And then some really just make me want to die.
So what are the best 90s soundtracks? What were the most disappointing? Which ones does nobody fucking remember?

edit: Was Anderson Movies have good soundtracks too
Kids (the movie) sucked so bad I can't say anything about the soundtrack.
I liked the Batman Forever soundtrack
Two additional great ones
Oh yeah, lots of terrible movies had rad soundtracks. Fuck the movies.
High Fidelity wasn't 90s. I almost put Empire Records and Space Jam in that gif.
And the OP isn't supposed to be all inclusive. You're supposed to make posts.
This is where we quibble over what decade 2000 is technically in and both look like pedantic dickheads.
The movie was awesome, but the soundtrack wasn't all that great .... two different versions of 'There She Goes' and Mike Myers reading goofy poetry
edit: Reservoir Dogs had a fantastic soundtrack
I'm not sure .... I just looked it up on amazon and wasn't impressed. Great movie though.
Spiderland is pretty much the best album ever
The, uh, the one in the thread title.
Anyone who likes Spiderland should get their hands on Rockets Red Glare's self-titled LP. The two albums are excellent for all the same reasons.
Maybe they're extremely racist.
