Buying a new car stereo

Alrighty, so I have a 2004 Ford Focus and my radio is swiftly taking a shit on me; volume knob works sporadically, display is losing pixels, CDs wont always eject, etc. I'm looking to replace it but I know next to nothing about car stuff beyond how to gas it up and jump the battery, so I'm looking for some advice.

How much should I expect to pay for the radio/installation?
Where's the best place to buy?

All I really need the thing to do is let me plug my iPhone in to play my music, I don't think I really even need a CD player anymore.

Installing a new radio is really easy if you're at all slightly handy.
