Any Two-Handers out there that chose a particular weapon and ran with it? (Axe, Sword, Hammer) What did you pick and why?
I'm using axes because Gimli fandom. Thinking of going back to swords for the impale. As far as stats and such Swords are the fastest lowest damage, axes are the middle, and Hammers are the slowest but the hit hardest. They are the blacksmith fat kids.
I went with swords as i found the higher speed just more "fun" to fight with, also best finishing animations
My get rich quick scheme is to buy every iron ingot I can find, every petty/lesser Soul Gem (prefer them empty to be cheaper), and craft a bajillion daggers, then enchant them with Absorb HP/Banish/the undead flee enchant.
I gain Smithing, Enchanting, and each dagger sells for 250+ and cost a quarter or less than that.
In whiterun the general goods vendor will buy daggers, and three blacksmiths all will buy daggers. Just wait 48 hours and sell to the whole group again.
I was about to embark on a similar plan, though I'm going to use a certain artifact...
...Azura's Star, to harvest Grand souls and mass-produce the best enchanted steel armor this side of The Throat of the World.
I made a game! Hotline Maui. Requires mouse and keyboard.
So is there any alternative to lockpicking? It feels like a waste of a skill, but my OCD won't allow me to not open chests even though I know there's always only poopy poop loot in them.
I have put no perks into lock picking and I've opened every lock I can. Master locks are a real biatch, but they are doable. Just save beforehand in the case of snapping every lock pick.
I would like some money because these are artisanal nuggets of wisdom philistine.

Whats the Two hand Sword decap? I'll spoil the axe one for anyone who wants a surprise.
You smash them with your axe to get them on their knees and then decapitate them, but because of the body position you don't always notice you gut their head off.

hmm have a lvl 12 or 13 Dark Elf Female Destruction/resto, stealth, archer.... but sounds like magic DPS doesn't scale as i go up in levels?
Hotkeys: I get the favorites bit, So i can map things to numbers 1-8, there anyway to map to more keys? I have all these nice F keys begging to have something mapped to them :P
I'm going to start a new character soon when I buy them game myself. I've just been playing it on my brothers computer up until this point. I want to create a sneaky bastard thief who wields a dagger in his right hand, and a healing spell in his left hand....however this presents a problem. How would I go about dealing with dragons using such a character!?
Hopefully this hasn't been asked recently, but this thread just moves so dang fast.
Any tips on leveling pickpocketing? I'm playing a sneaky archer and to go with that I thought I'd pick up some of the more thiefy skills. Unfortunately I always get caught. Should I play for some ranks first and then switch to sleeping people, and then to more live bait?

What else do you want to map? 1-8 pretty much covers every combat situation.
I'm trying for a character that fights against the stormcloaks, but the companions seem to be aligned with the grey-manes and the stormcloaks. I keep reading the the companions questline is awesome so I was wondering if I can do them in "theme" with my character or if I should wait to try it with a stormcloak-aligned character.

the companions aren't aligned with any of the factions
You know what a bad time to get attacked by a dragon is? When you're trying to sneak into that meadery on the island near Rifton to set fire to their hives. NOT A GOOD TIME BUDDY.
More generally, I kind of feel like a bastard doing the thieves guild quests. Not quite so warm and cuddly as previous theives guilds.
The bad ass thing to do would have been to use the dragon to set fire to the hives.
I actually thought of that - unfortunately it was a frost dragon...

It invovles semi-cheating:
Go to riverwood. The starting town. One of the characters there (forgot which sorry!) has a ring that imporves your pickpocketing odds by like 15%. It's not illegal to check peoples pockets so you can just hunt around until you find it.
Are you trying to do this without abusing quick save and reloads? I quicksave before eachpocket and reload if i fail.

You can look at what people are holding without repurcussion and if you hover over their stuff you can see what's most likely for you to rob successfully. Pick small things and you should be able to work your way up

They aren't directly aligned with the stormcloaks, and none of their quests deal with them.

Man, I was right about having my conjurer join the DB! What else can be considered the perfect murder weapon other than the one they'll never find (Bound Sword)?

I usually save beforehand, but playing on Xbox the saving is a little clunkier. I'll check out that spoiler though. Otherwise is my thinking more sound? Sleeping victims then walking around ones? Is there even a success bonus if they're sleeping?

The menu in this game can go fuck itself. why the hell can't I assign spells to a number button? why can't I use the mouse to select things. why do I want to punch someone in the throat every time I want to equip something?
Open favorites menu and press the number key you wish to assign to whatever items.
.....marry me?
This doesn't work for me. I can hold Q and see all my faves, but the numbers I pressed do nothing.

I dont think it matters until you get the perk. But higher value items increase your chances of getting caught. So when you start leveling it up, you'll be stealing like carrots and shit lol
I think I'm somewhere between 50% and 80% through the Companions missions and they're not so great.

I wasn't even talking about perk points. I just don't like that lockpicking is leveling up and causing my character to level faster.
I've opened just about all locks and I leveled faster from doing blacksmithing than any lock picking, but never really felt that "leveling" screwed me.

Honestly, I found it easy enough to lockpick every chest in the game while essentially ignoring the skill. None of the perks are required and with the amount of picks you find in the game it is quite possible to pick master chests at novice skill level.
Edit: I might have been reading a pretty old page when making this post.
The mine is infested with spiders. the blacksmith there sent me on a mission to clear them out, but the mine seems very small, and there's no "red mist" like all the townspeople seem to mention in shor's stone. I killed all the spiders but when I left the mine a dragon attacked. I think it killed the blacksmith because he's now nowhere to be found. It think that was the end of the dragon-interrupted quest but did I miss a secret entrance or something silly?

This actually works fine. Just don't stand right in front of it and get eaten.
Any Two-Handers out there that chose a particular weapon and ran with it? (Axe, Sword, Hammer) What did you pick and why?
Been going with warhammers because the perk that goes with them (ignore % of armor) seems to be pretty great. Greatswords have better animations and due to their greater attack speed will trigger enchantments more often.

I wonder what triggers the dragons "GET IN MAH BELLY" reflex, i've killed 11 or 12 now, all by standing in front of their faces and chopping away and haven't been eaten yet.

things that I would love to be able to map to something:
magic ward
frost spells, lightning spells (when a mob is immune to fire)
mana potions
buff potions
summoning spells
several others spells whose names are escaping me... anyways again, any way to map to more than 8 keys, or should i be pestering modders to do this?

One thing that has started to bug me is that once an enemy starts a fatal blow animation, you are just dead. If you happen to open the UI right as they start their animation to chug some potions or eat some food, doesn't matter if you get to 100% - as soon as you close that UI, you're dead.
However, I'm not too upset about it. I mean, they did just start a swing/chomp/stab that was going to behead/devour/eviscerate me.

The Tower stone lets you unlock one Expert or lower lock per day. But that's not much for taking up your stone slot.
