No way to jump. You can get across gaps via a few items or by bombing rocks into them (if they're nearby).

you can't jump, but there are a couple of items that allow you to cross gaps to get to things

or, in one instance, make items cross gaps to get to you

I assume you're trying to cross a hole in the ground. If there's a rock nearby, you can place a bomb near the rock, and it'll fill in the hole. Otherwise, you can buy a ladder that lets you cross those holes.

Make sure you bomb it so the rock is between the bomb and the rock, otherwise it won't work. You also can't diagonal it in there.

Yeah im disapointed that you cant shoot diagnally since this is the perfect game to utilize a dual stick.

Probably wouldnt have tried it without the demo, but this is pretty damn fun.

You can sort of shoot diagonally by running down/up and firing left/right. Not perfect, but it works.

Gurdy is easy. Just kill the two boils at the start, then stay at a 45 degree angle to him and move to his side or front to avoid his shots. It's not too bad.

from my experience gurdy is either really easy, if you get the right items and room layout

or nigh impossible

damage upgrades really help with him, and a room that has rocks for you to hide behind, but also doesn't shield his minions is good too

and yeah that's kind of the point of the devil room - trading some of your max health for really powerful items, many of which can only be aquired in this way

BTW, for those who may have not noticed, some rocks are noticeably bluer than others. Be sure to bomb them.
