This comic is about me playing Oblivion :P I had so many paintbrushes and crap in that game until I finally figured out they were worthless.
Edit: Bethesda really should have better indicators of what are "junk" items in their games.
I don't think it's Bethesda's fault that you couldn't figure out that you didn't need that many paintbrushes and calipers.
True enough.
I actually tried looking up mods for Oblivion once that implemented uses for all those 'junk' items, even if the use was just flavorful at most. Couldn't find anything. Which is too bad because it's the sorta thing I would pay for.
Well...I once had a mod that enabled the use of brooms, calipers, forks, spoons, etc as WEAPONS! Sure the butter knife only did 2 damage but it felt kinda cool that as it was one of the only items right at the start of Oblivion you could pick up (On ze table in the cell). 'course I would have swapped it out for the dead Blades shortsword minutes later but still
I liked the gun in Fallout3 that used all that junk laying around as ammo.
When I lived in Portland (and thus got a chance to play FO3) one of my roomies questioned my use of it. Then he saw me head-shotting dudes with empty soda cans constantly and he had a change of heart. So yeah. It was a damn great weapon.

But you need 50 calipers for that tinker in Shivering Isles. And 50 tongs. Then he pays you even more for every 5 you find.
But no that's actually kinda cool they found a use for that stuff. Trading it in is probably the most practical. So kudos to Bethesda.

Ysgramor would not be effected by your efforts.
