iPads in the Kitchen

I visited a friend a few months ago, and noted that she was using her iPad to read recipes in her kitchen, but didn't have any kind of protection for it - it struck me that some kind of protector/stand would make a nice Christmas present.

Google tells me that there are quite a few solutions for this - can anyone recommend anything?

Logitech makes a Keyboard case that has been a lifesaver for my Ipad. Plus it basically gives you the ability to turn the pad into a netbook since you can place it in the case in a way that tilts the screen laptop style.

unfortunately it cost 75-100 dollars. So uh I guess this depends on your cash flow and how close you are as friends. But when the Ipad is safe and secure in the case there aren't a whole lot of reasonable accidents that can damage it.

Other than that you can pick up plastic screen protectors for under 10 dollars that really do help with scratches and things.

I would definitely look at a stand-type of thing (maybe even a wall mount, if she has a place for it) over a protector thing. The iPad is really resistant to scratches (gorilla glass yeeeeah) so anything that's going to go through that will probably go through a screen protector too.

I have a cheap old textbook stand that works wonders for holding mine up in the kitchen. And apparently you can put it in a ziploc bag and still use the screen, which is a lot cheaper than a screen protector. Like admanb said it's not so much about scratches, but more about stuff splashing on it if you're cooking, or have anything on your fingers, so a ziploc will prevent that.

a sealed case of some sort would be best if she bakes at all. Flour+electronics = crap.

Comes in packs of 25 for 20 dollars. Although they say you should dispose of it after you're done, they also say the sleeve is re-sealable. So you can probably give it a rinse, let it dry overnight, and use it again the next day, and you have 24 more if you really end up giving it a soak in egg and flour. It also says the triangular tube it all comes in can double as an iPad stand.
