I was just gifted a 2005 Nissan Frontier from my father in law and, to my dismay, it doesn't have keyless entry. How difficult is it to install if I were to buy the kit myself? I'm stupid when it comes to cars, but I'm pretty good with electronic stuff. My dad, who's good with cars and not so much with electronic would help me.
Or should I just pay someone to install it for me?
you should research your specific model/year a bit 1st... cars made after the early '00s often came with keyless entry and the remotes were subsequently lost - meaning sometimes you just need to buy new remotes and program them (this was the case with a '98 nissan altima i used to own)
in other times, the manufacturer pre-wired the car for keyless entry, and just omitted a transmitter/received, etc. in which case it's a simple plug and play install (and much cheaper and more reliable than an after market setup) (this is the case with many hondas, including my '04 Honda element)
worst case scenario you have to wire it yourself using an aftermarket kit - but i'd look into the above two options first - car model specific forums are a great place to start
