are there a lot of bad ones that never get used outside of their dungeon
not at all and it's one of my favorite things about it
every item has multiple uses and with a few exceptions there aren't any "this is a dolled-up switch that can only be activated by this one item!" type things
The item I just picked up seems like it might be a little specific, but I haven't had a chance to go exploring anything but the temple it came from yet.
Speaking of hornets, I like how they did the Gossip Stone in this game. Even though I waved my net around like a crazy person when I encountered hornets, I didn't manage to catch one. After I beat the first dungeon and saw that the gossip stone had something to say, it showed me how to deal with hornets (showed me, not explained). It looks like there were other tutorials there that I didn't need to see because I did it on my own. Seems like a useful way to explain things to people who need it without annoying those who don't.
I am really really terrible at catching insects. It either gets away, I accidentally step on it, or I follow it into a really hot area and I light on fire. I can only catch bugs that stay still.
It's a bicycle but with a bell and streamer on it and you've got your baseball card clothespinned to the rear wheel so it sounds like you're on a motorbike (but not really)

Okay, so two things. One disappointment (the first so far, FIFTH DUNGEON BOSS SPOILER BELOW)
Tentalus. He looks like he belongs in a Mario game - damn shame too, the build-up with the ship falling apart and the rain storm was pretty cool.
Now, I'm having trouble with diving - most prominently at the clown island, I just have no feel for the controls at all, instead of moving towards where I want to go, Link either moves away or nosedives...tips?
hey vicio you should probably mark what point in the game your spoiler is from! I clicked it because I thought I was ahead of everyone else in the thread and whoops!
I'm not a huge stickler for spoilers and it's not exactly a huge spoiler anyway, just something for future reference
Ghost Ship is super cool, but I'm a little disappointed that we didn't get a proper Temple of Time level. The Temple of Time in TP was a HUGE disappointment for me because it had nothing to do with time or time puzzles, and now that they actually had some time mechanics I was hoping that it would be done proper. Still, always a fan of pirates and spooky ships
roll your remote left and right to move left and right. Tip it back to move back, tip it forward to move forward, and tip it more than 45 degrees forward to nosedive. If that's not what's happening for you then either you're doing something wrong or your controller's screwed up
I suck so bad at gaining altitude while flying. Which is a huge pain in the ass when you come up for Skyloft and you are miles below it and need to gain a lot of altitude to get there.

to me that really only made sense in OoT
then again I'm four dungeons in and I STILL don't have the bow, and I don't think it's in the next dungeon either.

you can upgrade it to have a scattershot. It still doesn't deal any damage though, just stuns enemies.

I am not hip to this whole Motion Plus magic, the last Wii game I played was Mario Galaxy 2, and the last one before that was Mario Galaxy

e:
You would need to get a Motion Plus! It's an extension which plugs into your Wiimote, I think it's around 15$?
