Okay, I have a problem here.

The game's got waaaaay too difficult suddenly for my level 21 character. In just a small time he's leveled from 15 to 21 without getting any better gear, and only doing a sprinkling of quests.

Does anyone have any experience or hints as to where I can go to get good gear in my situation? It's gotten to the point where all my random encounters are way beyond what I can handle. I've got an improved Orc bow and some dwarf arrows, firebolt/firetrap.

Just crafted myself a full set of Daedric everything and upgraded them as well.

I... I'm very pointy. And I feel like I am the embodiment of all evil. When really I'm just a Nord who likes to hit things. Oh well, Dragon armor looked silly so I'm rolling with this.

Turn the difficulty down until it gets challenging again!

Do you literally mean naked? Bad idea. Only way to get anywhere with destruction later on is to stagger with dual-casting and have a shit ton of magic regen.

just go to the options menu and turn down the difficulty until the game feels better, turn it back later if it feels too easy. You can adjust it whenever you want even in the middle of a fight.

Good lord, I had just made my way through a dungeon to help out the Bard's College, and just as I exited the dungeon a blood dragon landed right in front of me. Couldn't kill it to save my life. After being eaten several times (all my saves were within the dungeon), I managed to conjure a fire elemental that distracted the bloody thing long enough for me to bravely run the fuck away.

I'm abusing quick save to deal with those. Quick save every few blinds corners when I'm running around outside, that way I can sneak up on the bears after they maul me.

My advice is just get as much magic regen/destruction spell cost mitigation, and learn the beauty of dual-cast staggering or unlimited slow with your ice spray. What you get as a mage that does the trick you get early on, it gets a little.. tedious past level 30 though. The important thing is getting enough magic regen that you dont just run out. Having enough to continually cast the apprentice spells is nice though. If you get to that point you can also constant cast the light heal, while tossing firebolts.

So if Equilibrium trades health for magicka, I wish there was a spell that traded stamina for magicka.

I don't really need my stamina bar for anything aside from running for my fucking life waiting for my magicka to regenerate.

So, I'm in a random bandit cave. I leave Lydia at the entrance so I can go train some Heavy Armor/Block.
I'm a good 100+ feet from the entrance, I found a nice dog to sit and chew at me, train my armor, without doing any lasting harm.
    Perfect.

2 minutes later Lydia comes out of nowhere, fires an arrow, kills my dog, and returns to the entrance.

I think playing a naked mage is viable if you invest in Alteration, Conjuration and Restoration. Conjure Atronachs, use Stoneflesh/Oakflesh (and get the Mage Armour perk), and get a lot of magicka regen items.

    1. Can I pay a smith around one of the towns to upgrade my various swords instead of smithing myself?
    2. I need more gold! I seem to run out quickly, buying training in various places (mostly in the magics).

    1. I don't think so. Upgrading is up to you.
    2. Quest lines tend to reward gold well, otherwise.. pillage, make potions, buy ore from the various towns and make stuff and sell it back(This might be good for you since you seem to want to upgrade your shiz)

If anyone running this on XP is experiencing 5-10 second pauses and CTDs, try the ENB patch ( http://enbdev.com/enbseries_skyrim_v0091patch4.zip ).

This is NOT one of his hideously overrated graphics rapist things that adds eye-raping post-processing like megabloom and shit. Only thing is, the readme and ini aren't particularly clear about what it does. It did however seem to resolve all of my pausing/CTDs on XP. I do have alt-tab out after running game to set the affinity to both CPU cores. It also might make it look like all of your saves are gone, but after restarting the game and removing and then replacing the patch files they showed back up. So don't freak out and think your saves are gone, it's just kinda janky.

So I've been a dual wielding Nord in light armor for a while now. Since I focus on direct combat, I may switch to some heavy armor.

I know I said I'd pick up both dual wielding and two handed weapons, but is it worthwhile?

From what I've seen, dual wielding is great, but there are times when the enemies are slow and tough- making the lack of block painful and the speed of dual wielding grindy. If I were to have both, I could switch between styles depending on the enemy. Any thoughts? I don't think I'll use much magic or shield blocking.

I'm currently at level 28 and have been dual wielding one-handed weapons from the get go. Smith heavy armor and put points into Juggernaut. I dumped most of my level up points into Health. The Restoration perks for half off Novice spells and healing spells curing for 50% more helped a lot. I pretty much just jump into combat blind and kill dudes while tanking with heavy armor and heal after each encounter. Oh, and if you are having problems with speed of attacks make sure to put points into Dual Flurry.

We tried nothin' and we're all outta ideas.

It has to be better than whatever they're wearing, but at that point they should just equip it automatically when you move it into their inventory. Same with weapons.

I'm doing much better at level 21, money wise. Have the house in Whiterun, fully furnished, and still have several thousand gold in my pocket. Next goal: increase my non-stealth dps. I didn't realize that the base 1-handed perk was a stackable dps perk. 3/5 ranks in it now. That said, my superior Blades sword and superior elven sword each only do 28 damage. Okay against mooks, but not much more. My smithing is only at 40, and only the base perk purchased.

I keep feeling like I need more perks. Most of my points are spread between 1-handed weapons, light armor, and sneak. I have 1 in archery, smithing, enchanting, and alchemy (which was a mistake, chosen before I fully understood the system), and 2 in lockpicking.

I just hve the overall impression that I'm underpowered, and I'm not sure if it's a gear issue or perk selection issue.

So random question for everybody: how fast do your characters move?

Because my mage seems a little on the sluggish side and he's not even wearing any armor. But since there's no longer any Athletics attribute, I'm assuming that all characters move at the same base speed setting aside gear?

Overall, there's not a lot I miss about the attribute system, but in Oblivion I had a Dunmer chick thief/archer/assassin with the Steed birthsign and man could she hoof it.

You can get actually pretty damn far on Steel gear. That Blades Sword is still top-shelf for me and I'm pushing 30. Skysteel stuff and scimitars are comparable as well. I don't really see any problems. I'd just make sure to work up smithing so you can punch up your gear further (you don't even really need perks in it at this point, just enough to get the next smithing rank). Are you close to the next level of the one-handed damage perk?

Seeing as how the horses are suicidal and handle like crippled hippos I don't blame them.

I was exploring very close to the eastern edge of the map, in the south, and I had a High Elf (his name was "High Elf") on a horse come galloping down the road towards me. He got off his horse and started flinging ice bolts at me, so I put an arrow in his eye. No unique loot/notes/anything.

I just did the Tower of Mzark (main quest spoilers to follow)
Is it just me or was that puzzle to get the elder scroll completely random? I didn't see any sort of solution anywhere in the environment, I just pushed buttons until more buttons opened up. I assume the map in the middle of the buttons is supposed to be some sort of guide, but I couldn't figure it out. It just frustrated me because the rest of the game is so good.
