Ok, so I've got me a Wii, and it's working fine (currently neglecting Zelda for Wii Bowling) but I was just wondering what the deal is with the warranty... Does it come with one out of the box or should I have bought one as an extra? Just because you never know with new consoles how long they'll last etc. Is there somwhere I should register it or something? Hypothetically, if it died on me tomorrow, what would i do?
In the UK, you should have a 12 month guarantee, meaning that if the machine breaks down within 12 months you can return to the store you bought it from and get a replacement.
The only place I have found this to differ is at Asda where I think you have a 3 month guarantee where you can return it, after which you have to take it up with the manufacturer, although if it still within 12 months all repairs should be free.

They can't actually limit your warranty to only 3 months. They may offer an additional service over and above the 12 months (say a return for cash) but they have to repair/replace a broken console assuming it actually failed for technical reasons (e.g. you didn't drop it out the window).
