You mean Sontarans? They're in the old series a bit, but their only other new series appearance was a Season 4 two-parter.

Mild spoilery stuff about the new companion apparently.
Apparently she wont show up until either the Christmas special or after (which is between the season break this time). Kinda curious that we will have a mid-season new companion. Also Moffat said something of her having a super mysterious origin of some kind. Which you know, it's the Doctor's aunt's boyfriend's sister. seriously though. Can't wait.

Who she's playing, how the Doctor meets her, and even where he finds her, are all part of one of the biggest mysteries the Time Lord ever encounters. Even by the Doctor's standards, this isn't your usual boy meets girl.
she died in the Library. for good, I'm pretty sure. unless she can regenerate back into Alex Kingston for some reason after regenerating into that girl somehow, I just don't see how it could work.

I doubt it's anything established yet, but if it is I would love for it to be Susan or Jenny for sure.
Though Moffat did apparently want Jenny to survive her episode for her to be left open for his run.
And you know Moffat's run has been all about familial themes and such. So giving the Doctor a companion that's his daughter as such wouldn't be too far removed.
