I got this netflix trial that's just sitting there now, I could imbibe nine's run
is this a good idea y/n
if not, which ones would you cherry-pick
also which of tennants'
For Eccleston:
The End of the World
Dalek
Father's Day
The Empty Child/The Doctor Dances
Bad Wolf/The Parting of the Ways
Tennant:
New Earth
School Reunion
The Girl In The Fireplace
The Cybermen two-parter is hella boring but sets up important shit for the finale
The Impossible Planet/The Satan Pit
Army of Ghosts/Doomsday
The Runaway Bride, I GUESS
Smith and Jones
The Shakespeare Code
Human Nature/The Family of Blood
Blink
Utopia/The Sound of Drums/Last of the Time Lords
Silence in the Library/Forest of the Dead
Midnight
Turn Left/The Stolen Earth/Journey's End
The Next Doctor
The Waters of Mars
The End of Time parts 1 an 2 are goofy as fuck but they're Tennant's last hurrah and Smith's introduction
Doctor Who episodes are interconnected enough that I wonder if it'd be better to just watch everything, if you're going to watch such a significant chunk of the episodes.

I say watch through them all and just drink and make fun of the bad episodes.
I mean the titular Monster is awful. Just atrocious. But I was a fan of the Love part!
I think the real episodes to avoid would be The Unicorn and the Wasp. And even though it's got a pretty major plot beat in it, Daleks in Manhattan is pretty dreadful too.
If "Fear Her" and "Love and Monsters" were kids at an athletic carnival they would both be running teeth-first into every hurdle and getting a stitch halfway through the 100m dash
but "Love and Monsters" would have fun doing it and take home the "Good Sportsmanship" award just like it does every year

Man I love Unicorn & The Wasp
It's one of my favorite standalone episodes
I'm not sure I can reconcile our tastes then
I mean if you enjoyed it than more power to you! But I came out of that sort of wishing it just wasn't there
I rewatched Love And Monsters recently as part of my marathon to get my best friend caught up, and it's true that the one redeeming factor was that I got to rock out to ELO a few times
Someone in the D&D thread pointed out a while ago that you only ever see her face in the concrete block from Elton's perspective, never on his camera footage. So it's entirely possible he couldn't cope with losing her and just imagined that the Doctor 'saved' her.
And think about it. Would the Doctor really be such a jerk as to bring her back so that she could live that awful travesty of a life?

Yeah my theory is that that entire episode happened through Elton's eyes. So all that Benny Hill shit is his coloured memory of events rather than what actually happened.
It's the main reason I don't mind that episode too much, I just can't help admiring its sheer ambition.

I shouldn't refresh my memory on what episodes you folks are talking about because dear god that ending.

Yeah I could see The Doctor being like "This will buy us some time, now let me call in a few favours to get you an android body that's nearly as good as the real thing"
but not so much "Now you're a living paver, welp see ya"
It's a fun episode that becomes sadder and makes you pity the characters in it, particularly if you keep the above theory in mind. When we passed it through our Who marathon (The Trial of a Time Lord all the way to present, just 'cos), Lady Cyv and I spent most of our time just feeling incredibly sorry for the poor people whose lives are ruined in it.

So... (spoilers for L&M as we've got some Who neophytes in here)
The guy is either using his girlfriend's stone animated face as a make/out blowjob device... or he's dry-humping a paving slab on a regular basis?
Okay between Matt Smith leaving and what just happened in Game of Thrones the only two TV shows I actively watch are really messing with my head right now.
I feel like I need to go on a glucose drip and marathon As Time Goes By until I come good.

I have to say, I think they will pick a good new Dr.
When Tennant left I was super bummed and hated on Smith pretty hard.
Eventually when I gave him a chance I saw that he did a great job.
Hopefully the trend continues.
Also, I am excited to see Tennant and Smith doctoring together.

Edit: Disregard. Brain fart.

I'd suggest The Three Doctors (Pertwee) and City of Death (Tom Baker).
someone who is completely stoic and emotionless
so as to irritate the people who blubber about "feels"
He even has his outfit picked out already.
What about "Love and Monsters"?
Why I fear the ocean.
I say watch through them all and just drink and make fun of the bad episodes.
I...actually sorta liked Love and Monsters.

what was the quote again
"we even have a bit of a love life"
Goddammit my hate for that ep is resurfacing all over again.

i'd prefer to think that yeah
But I'm too scared to discover if that ending is completely literal.

god damn it etc
It's actually not a fun episode.
It's kind of depressing, really.
Helen Mirren for the Doctor
So... (spoilers for L&M as we've got some Who neophytes in here)
I'm not sure which is the less palatable ending.

It will never happen but I want it.
Moffat is going to be writing season 8. Clara will be the 12th Doctor's first companion.
Aw.
Actually, I kind of wish that they wouldn't tell us Smith was leaving, either.
