But you'll love the keyboard. My Das is pretty much the best thing in the world, assuming you're the one typing on it. Otherwise, hammers!
I occasionally run into input dropping problems and it'd be nice to know that if I'm moving in one direction, reload, and try to move diagonally or something like that my keyboard won't go HURRRRRRK due to only registering two keys at the same time. The Das I'm getting has the Cherry Browns instead of the Cherry Blues and they're not terribly loud from what I can tell from my Youtube researchings.
I've been able to play this game perhaps three times since I bought it. Since mid-November it's been crashing just as it launches, and nothing I've tried will solve it. I've even reformatted my drive and reinstalled Windows (not due to BF3 solely - I'd never do that for a single game) and still, the problem remains. People have very different ideas as to what the problem is - Origin running in the background (disabled, ran once then never again), the game installing by default to \Battlefield 3 tm instead of \Battlefield 3 (not in my case), gamepads installed (I WANT to use my joystick when controlling the jets, removing it is not an option), etc.
I don't think I've ever had a game give me so much trouble. And the hilarious part is that reportedly the cracked .exe has no such issues!

It's not actually disabling Origin, it's something that was suggested by an Origin employee to others with the same issue. Something about the overlay, I think. Origin still runs when starting the game.
Edit - And indeed, it is the Origin in-game overlay feature that they suggested be turned off. The game ran once after that, but now doesn't whether the overlay is turned on or not.

I mean, it could be a million things. What's your system specs?
I know you'd catch something obvious, like not meeting minimum spec and such, but working a problem you have to start at the beginning. We can't join the conversation half way through.
The game ran perfectly back when I first bought it, I played on a couple of servers and then, at some point, it just began crashing on launch. I don't even see a screen or anything, as soon as the .exe begins to start, it crashes. All drivers are updated, the game is up to date and so is the Battlelog plugin. And Origin, of course. I reformatted the Windows drive and reinstalled everything, and the problem remained. I've tried installing it to different folders, and again to the default folder, but no such luck. I'm not the only one with this issue - you can see here that some EA employee seems to understand what the issue is but says that there won't be a fix for this until January.

So last night with tog and the rest it was demanded that we get ace squad on a metro meat grinder rotation; I was clearly lagging.
Turns out you can shoot your teammates health boxes to make them go away. Only my heals then count. *troll face*
That and about 20 rezzes in a row and flanking the lockers with an f2000 literally sitting on a ammo box and holding down the trigger until empty and repeating over and over.... we nailed ace squad.
just a few lil levels and i get my wings.

Metro 64 is bonkers. I did the first support achivement there in like one round. I might have gotten a few kills before the round began, but I was very surprised to grab the mortar when RU got pushed out to the Cafe, popped off 2 quick kills, and get the assignment unlock. I love that place for weapon unlocks.

A guy in an apache had 39 kills, on console. I kept trying to anti-air him, firing over and over, never got the little white 'x' , even with direct hits. Drove me fucking insane.
Also everyone is all of sudden amazing at air combat and im shit.
Had something like this happen on Wake Island. Enemy chopper was labeled as friendly (showed as blue on the map). They could kill us but we couldn't damage it. Maybe some glitch where the pilot was on our team but the gunner was an enemy? F'ing stupid glitch/oversight if that's the case.

Can't do that. You switch teams and you die. Probably some non-blatant hack that is hard to detect.

It blows my mind that USB only lets you hit 3 or 4 keys at a time or whatever. USB 2.0 can transfer data at like 40MB/s (well, I assume most keyboards are USB 1 so theyre limited to like 12MB/s but still) but I can only press 3 god damn keys at once? Fuck that noise.

If you have to play on pubs ever, play engineer and do nothing but play anti-vehicle. Find a good ammo buddy and sit on a roof somewhere just taking down choppers and planes and things.
Don't worry about the score or the wider game. Just think of it as a skeet shoot.

But you spent 400 dollars on the console! Maybe less. And PC games are generally cheaper (sometimes much cheaper) than the console alternatives.
The main reason I got this on the PC instead was because of how blatantly better it was. It almost isn't even worth getting for the consoles, IMHO.
A one time investment of $300. That I don't have to spend monies upgrading or replacing altogether as new games come out. When I was single, I had no problem putting my extra cash into a PC so I could play new games and have them look good.
I get what you mean about this game being better on PC (why I recommended to the dude earlier to get it for PC). I am a child of the 1942 and Vietnam Era. I loved those games so much, even ran a BFV server. Just the fact I get to play a version of this game that isn't completely castrated like BF2 on the OXBOX was means alot to me.
I can't say I blame you. I had no idea how hilariously buggy and unstable the game is even when it's working exactly as it's supposed to, and I'm running it on a setup with GTX 470 SLI that eats and spits out more intensive games than this. With that in mind, $35 is pretty much the ceiling of what I'd pay for a new game this unstable that I'm going to be waiting for patches and you know, proper support, rather than just waiting for it to not have these problems (and perhaps be cheaper). Especially when there's a $15 DLC you're expected to buy as well.
As said, it's almost all in the actual program. If the console versions don't have this problem--deciding, "Hey, the player is running for his life/about to move to disarm an explosive on an MCOM/trying to sneak up on a tank, better fucking shudder and freeze for four or five seconds so he dies."--more power to him for going with it. Hell, I bet there's a 1/3 chance that Kykla's complaint about playing on a public server, with a player ran from disarming and saving the game, was actually due to a lovely 4 second "Hope you weren't doing anything!" period. Maybe 1/4.
Then again, I play heavily medic, and don't really care about game outcomes too much (I switch to Russian because I like the AK-74M), so long as I get to run around reviving guys and tossing out health packs. Probably not a huge benefit to the team I'm on.
Anyone know where the cheapest place to pick this up for PC, download only? I see amazon has it for $40, anywhere better? I want to gift it to someone.

@raslin: make sure to take off filters like number of free slots and certain modes because the dome cycles through both, and then just type in "angry dome". if you still don't see it, you have a filter on that's blocking it, so just trial-and-error it.
Just finished a most excellent match...Me on one team. Ahi on the other. Both carrying our dogshit teams. We squeaked that shit out although Ahi ended up with MVP. We both had over 5000 points with the 2nd closest on either team around 2500. Highlight of my night was snagging Ahi's dogtags. I'm sure for him it was C4'ing my tank 3 godamn times.

So I'm sure this has been brought up, but man...the FAMAS iron sights are awful. They're like the UMP sights from BC2...but somehow worse!

Yes indeed. They are pure shit. And when the hell are we gonna play again? I've been off the game for a few days but PA 360 dudes need to put down skyrim for a bit and get together for some steamrolling. I complained about it before but nothing but pubs or getting stuck playing against PA can get depressing. Even when i'm doing very well.
