So I'm sure this has been brought up, but man...the FAMAS iron sights are awful. They're like the UMP sights from BC2...but somehow worse!
Getting to red dot was essentially like being healed of blindness.
Like shooting through a midget's asshole. Might just have to take that thing over to Metro for a round or two.
God I hate choppers. There needs to be something that actually counters them rather then dumb luck STINGERS
soflam/CITV + Javelin/Guided Shell/Guided missile is instant death to any chopper not carrying an ECM jammer, and instant death to any chopper carrying an ECM jammer that has just used it all up and is too far from cover to do anything about it.

Yeah, it takes just two guys working together to shut a chopper down. That's not unreasonable.
Hell, one Recon actually spending the time to run his SOFLAM (and thus ensuring it's targeting the right vehicles) can basically shut down the skies over a pretty wide area, provided that his teammates notice the shiny diamonds and decide to do something about it (which, since they represent free kills and free points, is likely). It's a very passive sort of teamwork, in that it doesn't require any real coordination; as long as one guy does the right thing, the other guys will naturally handle their end.
Actually, shit...weren't they going to remove the instant-jav-kill on choppers next patch? I thought there was talk of that. At that point, it really would have to be guided shells, since if a Jav won't one-shot a transport chopper good luck overcoming the repair.
The problem with choppers seems to be that its all or nothing. SOFLAM + any of the SOFLAM guided weaponary is an instant hard counter that the chopper can't do a whole lot about. I mean, really good pilots can find out where the enemy is and keep terrain or buildings between them, but its still a major pain. And the pilots who are able to do this are very rare.
Meanwhile short of enemy air, not much else can touch a chopper.
But I'm not sure that latter part is a bad thing. Jets pretty much exist soley to free up the skies for their choppers to reign destruction on the ground. Choppers shouldnt be that vulnerable to the ground because if they are, Jets become almost useless.
Hell ive played games where the enemy stole our chopper, and then just raped the skies. So we just ignored them and ended up dominating because they had so many units in the air and not enough on the ground. The air war almost becomes a handicap to win. If one side just ignores it, they have more ground forces and will steam roll the objectives. This may not be a problem on PC with higher player counts, but it sure seems like an issue on 360.
Every bit of my game, K:D, W/L, SPM plummets when I take the skies. And honestly, I'm a pretty decent pilot, and I havent had to deal with many SOFLAM folks. Air supremecy is underpowered not overpowered.

Just finished a most excellent match...Me on one team. Ahi on the other. Both carrying our dogshit teams. We squeaked that shit out although Ahi ended up with MVP. We both had over 5000 points with the 2nd closest on either team around 2500. Highlight of my night was snagging Ahi's dogtags. I'm sure for him it was C4'ing my tank 3 godamn times.
GG Ahi. Wish I coulda played with you but every time I tried to switch your team immediately filled.
It was great fun playing against you Dug! I think we think too much alike and play similar style. Every time I try to flank or be sneaky you were there to stop me. During those 2-3 rounds, you definitely kept me on my toes. I tried to switch team every time round ended but couldn't
Choppers aren't as impervious as people seem to think. Stingers work quite well on their own. All you need to do is force the flares, then blow em up. It's not an instant kill, but it is a disable vehicle. That either grounds them for repairs, or the flame out and explode. But same as the SOFLAM or CITV, 2 engineers with stingers will take down a chopper.

What it really comes down to is skill. The people that are able to read a map and avoid the laser painters will be able to stay in the sky indefinitely. I, myself can scoot around in the Huey rather skillfully. I have developed a sideways flying technique to allow my gunners an unobstructed view. It also confuses the fuck out of people on the ground to see a chopper swooping in sideways peppering the air or ground with minigun fire.
Now that I've fixed my game and have gotten myself familiar enough with it as to not be absolutely horrible, I plan on getting on the Dome. Origin name is downer.

Iv'e said it before, they should not balance the game considering a skilled player versus an unskilled player. I know it hurts accessiblity, but that was never high on the Battlefield list of concerns in the first place. Battlefield has always touted teamwork, if you can't ask for help taking down a chopper or jet, don't complain. If you do and noone will, find a better server.
For anyone playing this game, favoriting good servers will vastly improve your game experience. Changing servers when they suck will keep you from getting furious.

I don't think I could emphasize this more, though I'm sure to most people it's obvious. I'm a huge rager in multiplayer games of all sorts and after years of making an ass of myself the most important contingency to have is a good eject button and options afterwards. there's hundreds of other servers to choose from at any time and they're probably better than the one where you can't leave spawn and there are three tanks, two jets and a chopper salivating at the combat border. I can never figure out why people don't leave those, frankly.
I cant stand to be in a lopsided server. Doesn't matter if I am on the team being stomped or the stomping team. Although, if I had to choose put me on the underdogs. Tends to be a bit more enjoyable figuring out how to get out of the vice.
Killing choppers isnt that hard. If a particularly annoying chopper is actually impacting my play, I will wait for a jet to spawn and go kill it. With beam scanning it is very easy to do a fly by and release your heatseakers close enough where a flare wont have time to stop the missiles from hitting. A GOOD jet will just machine gun you dead in a jiffy.
Then, because everyone loves flying choppers, that super annoying guy probably wont get in the chopper for a while.
Me and my buddy were playing as a chopper and a particularly nasty jet pilot kept us from doing much. We were flying super low to activate under the radar, and werent hovering, we were constantly flying forward at highspeeds, navigating around hills and trees like a boss. But this guy was able to swoop down and take us out, or come damned close, very very often.
I switched from laser painter to air radar specifically because of him. No more sneaking up on me mr jet!
Aye, if you are a decent pilot and are being harassed by the other teams air power then you are just playing a different game. While you are technically being taken out of the game, the longer you keep the fight going you are also keeping him out of the game as well. In the end, you are making a difference no matter how minute it may seem to yourself.
Fuuuuck. Missed out on picking this up on Amazon for $40, just went up to $50. Anyone know of anywhere else I can pick this up for someone cheap? Download only.

I just got a gunclub alert telling me I earned the "Dig Your Own Grave" achievement for dying 500 times. I haven't really played the game yet because I was waiting to build a new computer (that I just finished), and only have 4 deaths to my name. Anybody know what's up with that?

Yeah, I wanted to pick it up for a friend for a late Christmas present. He's building a new rig so he can finally run this game but he can't afford the game now after buying it all!

I always play TDM - hardcore to get the first couple weapon unlocks (especially on guns with horrid iron sights).
