So, y'know how I've been commenting repeatedly on hoping Civ V goes on sale so I could buy it for my girlfriend? Well we had plans to get together last night, but she decided she just wanted a night in, so we skipped them, and I sent her Civ 5 GOTY, since I figured she was just going to play my old copy of Civ IV anyway.
And what do I see today? Civ V GOTY for 2/3 off as a daily. >.<
There's no real fault to place here; I could've left her with the older game for the evening, but I know she's wanted it for ages and I decided to take the risk. Risk failed, Newell served, spent $15 more than I needed to for the same product.
Consider this a cautionary tale folks.

Sounds good, when I get home I'll figure it out. I want to do some light gifting tonight...and I think I'm treating myself to Civ V. A new Muppets movie and new strategy game sounds like a good night to me.

Nothing on there for me today, I'm more than happy to wait longer for the games on sale there to get cheaper. Looks like I may be leaving the sale with just a few quality indie titles under my belt. That seems to be the case most times recently though and probably will be until I make the complete move off consoles and stop purchasing games near release.

Why do Steam downloads stop when I play a game on it? It's the only thing I can think of that bugs me about the Steam service. Most of the time I can alt-tab out and resume the download but some games just aren't very alt-tab friendly.

I have one Quakecon Pack 2011 that needs a good home. It includes everything Bethesda/ID had on Steam as of Quakecon 2011 (alas, no Skyrim or Rage, as they weren't out yet then). "Games include BRINK, Hunted: The Demon’s Forge, Call of Cthulhu®: Dark Corners of the Earth, Commander Keen, the Doom series, Wolfenstein 3D, Return to Castle Wolfenstein, Fallout 3 GoTY, Fallout New Vegas with DLC, Hexen series, Elder Scrolls 3 & 4, The Quake series, Rogue Warrior and Spear of Destiny."
All in all it's a metric fuckton of gaming and I'd like this to go to someone who has as few of the included titles as possible, but anyone is welcome to apply. If interested, PM me with your favorite classic PC gaming moment. Bonus points awarded for anything that cheers me up. A description is fine, but screenshots/videos/links are always good too. I'll pick a winner Sunday evening, and try to re-post the details a couple times between now and then.
Test results for my cat were largely normal, with one indicating that it probably was indeed a seizure that we witnessed. Not much to do other than keep an eye out for more, and put her on anti-seizure medication if need be. Or it could just be a one time thing, hopefully.

I'm tempted to pay it forward by gifting a copy of Kane & Lynch 2 but the last time I tried to give that game away a bunch of people entered my contest but nobody actually wanted the game.
Why do Steam downloads stop when I play a game on it? It's the only thing I can think of that bugs me about the Steam service. Most of the time I can alt-tab out and resume the download but some games just aren't very alt-tab friendly.
So it doesn't give you lag when you play online games. I agree it's kinda annoying there doesn't seem to be an option to disable auto-suspending.
Well I think I'm done with this sale until I get that purchasing issue sorted out. I look forward to reading about everyone's excited gift giving and receiving though for the next two days.

You should feel a little bad for breaking the first rule of steam sales: never buy anything until the last day unless it's a daily.
