So Dungeon Defenders: I'm not certain any friends want a 4-pack, how cool would this be to play mostly-solo? I've heard mixed things about it and I have Sanctum/Orcs Must Die that I can always try to beat even more.
OMD will be a better choice for solo play, DD is heavily being cater to MP.
But if you have Orcs Must Die, and like it, then it's well worth buying Dungeon Defenders. I've done mostly solo play, and it's still lots of fun. It's very polished and does a lot of things "right". I'd get it now while it's cheap. It's cheap enough that you should buy a 4 pack and sprinkle it around your friends.
Is there any way to alter your followers behavior? I was really fucking annoyed when I recruited the Fire girl, spent all her points on giving her Spinning Kick stun chance and making it so she heals whenever she's attacked... and then every time combat starts she instantly pops into Fire form and starts pot shotting things with fireballs no matter how many enemies there are.
No there is no way to alter your followers behavior. The only thing you can do is select skills that they most commonly use to upgrade. I followed the advice in this post when I played through the game as Katarina http://forums.obsidian.net/index.php?showtopic=58605&view=findpost&p=1143060. Though, once I got Reinhart as a companion I didn't use anyone else.
That sucks, guess I'll be ditching Anjali for Lucas as soon as I acquire him. (I'm playing as Reinhart, so him being a reasonably smart companion doesn't help me)
It's annoying because if Anjali actually favored the skills I was leveling for her, she'd be phenomenal at helping me manage groups.
Thank you to Joe Camacho MkIIandbusfahrer for the gifts of Dungeon Defenders! Much appreciated. @busfaher, @Joe Camacho MkII's came in first, so please find the one you sent me another good home.
Dungeon Defenders is great fun. I don't experience much lag, but you may need to adjust your video settings (which can only be done from the launcher - Configure, for some things). Setting the graphics to Low gets rid of bloom and depth of field and all sorts of other annoying things. It looks appreciably good at resolutions as low as 640x480 because of the art style and the UI can be scaled up and down in size independent of the graphics.
The game is designed to group with any level range, but a level 70 character can solo pretty much any level on any difficulty up to hard with 3 other players prorating the spawns up. Play in a private lobby with friends, or join games within your level range for an actual challenge. Medium difficulty is designed to be easy for a single player to get through all the levels on their own, so it becomes trivial (even with increased spawns) with more than one person.

This dungeon defenders looks both fun and cute. Is it?
I bought it and my experience in the short time I played looked like this:
"Wow, this is incredibly laggy. Oh, look, I died because it was too laggy to do anything."
And then, "This isn't so bad. Oh! It's because someone brought a level 70 character into a game that was a bunch of level 5 nobodies."
I never got into Dungeon Defenders. Even the multiplayer just seemed dull to me. The Tower Defense and the Action RPG parts were both so watered-down that I found neither to be very fun. That's just my opinion, though, some people on my friends list have play times in the double figures, and some even in the the triple figures.
Does anyone play Brink? The $5 price point is tempting me but I'm not hearing great things here. >,>
Well, it's certainly the most enjoyment I've had with a character select screen since City of Heroes. And the soundtrack is pretty killer too.
The rest? Not so much. Unsatisfying shooting mechanics, and the objectives are difficult to get your team to come together and do when the game is designed around spur of the moment, spontaneous player decisions.
It's an ambitious game, but I didn't find it very fun.
Why do we not have a steam group called "The League of Extraordinarily Classy Gentlemen"?
Amen!
Speaking of, shout out to the classy gents Mangaroo and Zenitram who went in with me on the four pack! The fourth was a mystery until my wife saw me play and decided she'd get in on it, so I doubled down.

Counterpoint, I did find it fun and the shooting mechanics are solid.
It suffers from a lack of players though, Against people it is great but Bot-stomps are not really fun.
If someone wants to play it, send me an invite. I still get the hankering to play.

It was definitely not the graphics that were making it laggy (it runs perfectly in single player.)

Best movement system I've ever played with. Every other first person shooter I play makes me feel slow, bulky and like we're fighting in a tar pit. And the shooting feels solid to me so there's that.
Civilization. It's existed for as long as history itself. Or, as far back as 1991, at least, with a popular iteration to this VERY DAY! But harken back to a time before hexes, before Spock voiceovers. Take a trip back to 2001, and Civ 3. All the Civ and none of the Sid (Meier wasn't the designer of this one). I've got it to give out, the COMPLETE edition. Anyone want it?
Contest rules:
1: Hit me up with a PM indicating that you would like the game.
2: I may need your Steam ID, if I don't already have it.
3: I will then give you the game.
4: At that point, you will have the game.
5: You can start playing the game at your leisure.
I may be a little slow to send out, as I'm off to see The Muppets now.
I bought and played a bit of DD. It was very fun, though the relatively limited playerbase hurts it a bit (It was putting l24's and l8's in the same game, which is really boring). When you're playing close to your own level it becomes much more challenging though. The first time that Ogre on the second level shows up....

I have never played a turn based civilisation game. Let us say that I wish to get into a space based version of one of these games, having heard great things from my fellow humans regarding them.
In terms of quality, I have heard that I cannot go wrong with galactic civilisation 2. How much truth is there in this claim?
(PSN: Morninglord) (Steam: Morninglord) (WiiU: Morninglord22) I like to record and toss up a lot of random gaming videos here.

Unless you're under some combination of download and/or time restrictions, you should still have time to check out the current free weekend promotion.
I loved the art style and the objective-based gameplay of Brink, but thought the shooting was underwhelming and the much-hyped movement system didn't quite deliver.
At this point if you want an objective-based man shootin' game, I'd suggest waiting for the next time Payday goes on sale.

Just sayin'.
Correct.
You can also do a steam backup and then import instead of downloading again, and keep your saves, settings, etc.
Yep, exactly. You can even copy over the steamapps folder to the new machine do you don't have to redownloading everything.
