Laptop borked? No longer receiving power from power cable.

So I woke up this morning to find that my laptop, which worked perfectly last night, is no longer working. First thing I noticed was that the laptop was apparently receiving no power when plugged into an outlet. In order to make sure it wasn't the power cable, I went out and picked up a replacement, to no avail. The computer still won't turn on, and the status lights indicate that no power is being received.

What are my options, if any?

Well, if you feel like it would be worth the effort and you think it might be the problem, it is technically possible to replace the socket where the power cord plugs into the computer... An old laptop we had stopped receiving power because no power cable could connect snugly with the computer. On the other hand, I couldn't possibly guess whether that's actually the problem with your laptop or not.

I just fixed my laptop a couple weeks ago that had the same problem. The issue was the little "pin" that the power cable plug into the laptop had broken off. It was a paaaaain to get fixed, but thank god for Google! Found step by step instructions to dismantle my exact laptop (there is a special method apperantly) and soldered the pin back on.

If the Pin is fine, then it has to be something internal. I would google your laptop and see if it is a common problem or some sort of fix. You be surprised what you can find sometimes.

    GL!

There could be something wrong with the battery. Take the battery out and try to power on with just the cable.

What laptop do you have? Is it a Dell?

If the internal connecter isnt soldered to motherboard but is on a seperate power board, you can replace that with roughly 10$-15$ plus shipping if you dont want to take the time to solder. You do have to take the laptop apart however, typically until you can remove the motherboard.

If you post your make/model (dell latitude 5300, hp nc6120, etc) I should be able to look it up for you. Maybe if i'm feeling extra nice Ill pull up the manual with the step by step instructions on how to dismantle it.

Also if you lift the power plug and hold it there for 15 or so seconds does the charge light come on? (Lift so the inside part of the connector is pushing down)
