Actually it's probably up there with the best I've seen this year, but there are three or four ahead of it in my mind.

Like what, Geebs? I didn't see many of this year's movies, but I wouldn't mind seeing movies that might have rated better than Children of Men (which I liked a lot).

United 93, Stranger Than Fiction possibly the Departed.

I thought Children of Men was executed really well, and the cinematography was amazing, but I never really bought into what it was trying to say.

Hell yeah, wombat. I don't think anywhere around here ever played Letters to Iwo Jima, though, and I don't think it comes out on dvd for a while yet.

Geebs, I heard Stranger Than Fiction was surprisingly good from a bunch of other people too.

What do you mean about buying into what it was trying to say?

That violence and sensationalism will be the downfall of man, and despite what we like to think of ourselves, we are truly a racist group of people with our own interest at heart?

    Yeah that, Filler.

And Stranger Than Fiction was pretty amazing. I'm not sure if it's ever going to be considered a "great film" by movie critic standards, but it had more heart behind it than anything I've seen all year.

I agree. The fact that we have that sort of people in abundance in this country is truly terrifying. The movie itself was awesome because the filmmakers didn't even need to show any bias to reveal just how retarded everybody was acting. They just turned the camera on and watched everyone go nuts

The Ted Haggard cameo was hilarious, though.

So Leonardo Dicaprio is set to star in another movie based off another Hong Kong movie made by the same guys who did the movie that The Departed was based on. Or something. Oh Leo, why couldn't you stay 16 and a homeless teen in Growing Pains forever?
