Yeah especially on the long long races I find it's better to exert constant pressure on the guy in front of you. My problem is that through general inexperience I tend to be the one to crack first.

Passing is terrifying and often times I play so conservatively that I can't pass until they go off the road and I have no chance to give any warning that I'm going by.
Last night I was following I think Stew and we were barreling down the road at 160 when he spins out and I barely had time to open my mouth before I zoomed past him. It was a close thing, too. Almost clipped him as he tried to straighten his car out.

That's how most of my passes work these days, but in contrast, when I make a mistake and go off (yes, it totally happens), the first thing I'm thinking is "where is everyone else and how do I not make this worse?" as opposed to "how fast can I get back on the track?"

That's what makes Nurburgring so dangerous, people going off on straights and then jumping on the track in front of someone going 150 mph.

I usually try to let everyone by if there's a bunch of people behind me. I'll check the map and see. Usually. Usually if I end up back on the track right in front of someone it's accidental and I didn't mean to drive back on the track.

That ridiculous 370Z I was driving had 720 HP. The tires and wings were not up to that challenge. The fact I was driving straight to begin with is a miracle. That thing fishtailed on every bump and turn.
Every bump and turn.
On Nurburgring.
For 3 laps.
It was a long 30 minutes.

Having a ton of horsepower makes this really fun, too.
"You got away from me in the corner? I'm just gonna catch right up on the straight. How's it feel knowing you have to try as hard as you can to keep me from toying with you on the straight?"

I usually go the other way, I tend to be faster in corners and slower on straights, so people always pull away and then the giant rainbow nose on my car is jammed into their rear view every corner.

Okay, so I am definitely keeping the Maranello, but I am withholding judgment on the ST as I think I can do better with a different car than the Lancer Evo X.
So, has anyone posted ST times on Nurburgring GP yet? I'm around 2:19 in my S2000 (but a good lap would probably be 2:17) and I'm wondering what other people are running.
That said, the S2000 cannot heat up drag tires. I have em has narrow as they go, and lap 6 I'm barely pushing 180F. Takes 3 laps to get the inside edges green on the straights.

So I'm switching my ST to the Mazda MX-5 Roadster Coupe. 2:21 on 'ring GP, 8 seconds faster than I was able to do in the Evo X.
I wish we had a list of who has what car so far so that we can avoid duplicates, I'm looking for an alternative for the M3, but I don't know if anyone has taken any of the Merc AMGs or the Ferrari 575M, or even the Jaguar.

Hm, making my S2000, and I realize I never actually picked a number. I guess I'll be 2 or something, single digit number is easier for my planssss.
Edit:
I finally broke 2:18 after I painted it. Clearly painted wunz go fasta. Also stupid forza wing, why can't I paint you.
The drag tires are certainly an adventure on this car, but I can sort of predict how it's going to behave now. Still a bit skittish, specially for an S2000, but I assume everyone will have to deal with that to some extent.
Also, how does tire wear % effect total grip? Is it just a sliding scale like engine damage, or does it have more of an exponential drop where you don't lose much for x% but then after y% it starts dropping right quick? Just curious how my perceptions align with reality.
Hmm, this is weird. I just finished my second pass through the world tour. The last race in the league of legends is, finally, a full lap around the Nurburgring.
For some reason I cannot find that same race in the event list. It was listed as a class A championship race.
Also I just hit level 118. Does it stop at 120?

150. No full lap events on Fujimi or Nurburgring as far as I know, sadly.
That is a shame. I would have quit before it saved the game so I could do it again had I known that. X__X Sucks that the only way to do a career race using a full lap of the ring is to redo the entire career and wait for it to come around again. X__X
Thanks for the info.

Hey Bast, just wondering, but is there any reason the '02 Z3 M Coupe isn't allowed? Seems to fit all the rules as far as I can tell, but just double checking.
Trying to decide on my GS car, was thinking the '05 M3 but I can't seem to get it to not kill me. It gets 2.10 on Nurburgring GP, but it's so wild that I'm not sure it'd be a good fit for this many laps.

Also, my ST car (the Audi) is still around 2:20~2:23. It dropped from 2:28 after my last pass on adding some power. Still have to tweak the tune as it has too much aero and the gearing is all screwed up. I was still in "RWD" mindset on the first tune and was trying to add more cornering than needed.

Regarding my XBL name, that may change. I have to renew in a couple weeks, and my current account is Canadian and I need to move it to an American account. Not sure how that is going to work...
Anyway, the Forza tuning calculator is a god-send. My CTS-V is now actually driveable in its current HP heavy setup, and I am getting 2:13 and change on 'ring GP. I'm pretty sure I can improve that as there are a few corners that I am consistently not taking well.
It's a spreadsheet, that is compatible with Excel. The Excel 97-2003 version will work with Open Office though. Instructions are in the forum post above.

Yeah, it's pretty great... and gives you a hand with what to change when you know exactly what kind of handling change you want. My CTS-V is still a bit squirrely, but tightening the handling should be a breeze with this.

I used excel spreadsheets like that to tune for a while, and then I started learning what I needed to adjust based on what the calculator gave. I can pretty accurately guess what settings I need to get the tires even based on the weight/distribution of the car.
Well, I now have my Kia doing 2:21 and change on 'ring GP. I think I can get a little bit of improvement out of it, though probably not as much as the CTS-V.
