There are those who say it’s much better to give than to receive. For the rest of us, the greatest gift is gifts. And now it’s easier than ever to receive gifts, or even, if you must, give them. In your inventory you’ll find a new “Pending Gifts” tab where you can view gifts offered to you and gifts you’ve offered to your friends. You can accept a gift to add to your game library or store in your inventory for later on both the web and in the Steam client.
And to ensure you don’t miss a gift, a new item in your inventory, or a friend invite, there’s now a notification flag at the top of the Steam client that lets you know you have things to act on and quick links to get you there.
I noticed the Pending Gifts section on my fiancee's client the other day. She hadn't accepted my gift of Orcs Must Die! I didn't accept it for her though.
It must have also had that notification flag, because when she was at her PC later she said "Oh, I forgot all about that Orcs Must Die gift you sent me" and accepted it. She tends to let gifts sit there for a while.

Very nice. I'm beginning to think someone from Valve spies on this thread, hence this Classiness Initiative.
Tell the Spy that MULTIPLE COPIES is #1 on my Wishlist for purchasing for Giftage!
Hey, I played a good 20 minutes or so of Secret of the Magic Crystal and spent most of it laughing. If nothing else, it isnt the worst game I've ever started up on Steam. I mean shit, you get to pet a pony til it explodes into a firehorse. Srs.
Is this game about torturing ponies that have been damned to live as a living embodiment of hellfire and brimstone?
Hah, you have to train your ponies in various attributes so they can get better and in turn win the events you enter them into. That particular one builds strength and endurance (I believe) giving the horse greater stamina in races.
So many people want Bastion, so few are willing to enter my contest
Things are going too fast here. In 4 hours it skipped 5 pages.
You should just repost your contest. =D
And, about Bastion: i believe it can get lower than 5 dollars.
I have plenty of games to play right now, so i will just postpone it.
Man, part of me does wish I held off a bit to see if I could score the game through someone's classy giveaway, but I had been putting that game for so long that seeing the $5 DD just made me jump right into it, without question.
I've already received more then enough gifts from classy folk here, so I can spare a few bucks on occasion.
Downloaded Rusty Hearts for the hell of it, since it's a "free" MMO. Was disappointed that it's so much like DFO. Oh well, the download and most content is free, so whatever.
Thinking of grabbing Shining Force II because... well.... it's Shining Force II.

That's one thing that was missing from Darksiders, a training montage for your demonic hell-horse, punctuated by scenes of War brushing Ruin's hair and telling it how pretty it is.

Special thanks to my zombie killing partner in crime @CyberJackal for the gift of HL 2:Episode 1. Yes, I am probably the last person on the planet to not play those games or the Portal 1/2.

I've not finshed HL2, don't own either of Ep1 or Ep2 and also just recently finished Portal and don't own Portal 2, so... You're not alone! Hell I never played/owned the original HL either, so some of the references in HL2 escape me.

I think the more important question is: what made you keep playing it?
In seriousness, I didn't play it when it first came out. A few years down the line, it hadn't aged well. Tried HL2, had no interest at all in whatever was happening. Never installed the episodes. I'm not really a single player FPS kind of guy anymore.

Wow guys. I just now realized that Steam uses your own screenshots to populate the background images in your library. I was poking around looking at some of my games, wandered on to Mass Effect 2, and thought it was pretty weird that the steam promo shots looked like my Shepard, doing some of the very same poses I had taken.
I feel a little dumb now, but that's kind of awesome.

Well, for me it was the most advanced looking shooter I had played. Just loved the game play, the story, etc. Although I spent a lot of time playing TFC and CS too, and probably fell in love with the engine.

Since now the US evening crew is probably rolling around, I'm going to put up a little gift guide for people who may be newer to the community (or like me), getting ready for their first steam holiday season rush.
A lot of us give gifts around here. A lot of us are also sort of lazy. Here is a quick guide to being a good GIFTEE:
1.) Make it possible to track you from PA Forums to Steam. A link directly to your steam ID is usually the most convenient. Remember, your Steam ID is different than your steam name. If you just include text to your steam name, we have to search and scroll through 5 pages to find you (and we may not find you if you're not using the same name/avatar combo!).
2.) Make it possible to track you from Steam to PA Forums. Best bet is using similar avatar/name. Understandably, some people don't want to do that. In that case, you should have "I'm x on Penny Arcade Forums!" in your profile blurb.
Remember, if you're selected for a gift from a stranger on here it will be, usually, one of two ways:
You will either post in the thread (so they will go to your profile to friend you and then to the store to send a gift
or
Someone will want to gift a certain game and go to the store page where you can see everyone who has it on their wishlist.
Also, remember that a gifter can see when you added a game to your wishlist. If you add it on the day of the sale, you might have a smaller chance of being gifted it than someone who has been interested in it since release.
To be a good GIFTER:
hey you're giving someone a gift you're already good, move along nothing to see here.
Except make sure that you are identifiable from steam to PA Forums. Some people are bashful and are nervous to message a gifter and say "hey thanks, I have no idea who you are on forums!"
Can we get some form of all this added to the OPs?
The game is excellent, and my reaction to this sale is to gift it to everyone on my friends list who doesn't have it, but that would cost... just over $100. So instead I'll do a BASTION CONTEST
I can't think of any clever contest rules, so this contest is simple: send me something that makes me want to give you the game. MS Paint, words, youtube... whatever format you want. Send me anything that will make me send the game to you (and if you're not on my friends list, also link to your profile, because I'm lazy and won't send you anything if you make it too much work for me).
I have three (3) gift copies to give away, but if I get more than three great entries I can always grab a couple of extra, so there is no hard upper limit on winners.

Much thanks to BladeofSanjuro for the totally classy copy of Bastion, time for me to get on the bandwagon and see why everyones nuts about this game today!

I actually did gift that out last sale. Which only gives more weight to me threatening to gift tunnel rats!

No, man. Railworks DLC. To folks that don't have Railworks.
Why be nice enough to gift a man-shooting game with an aggregate Metacritic score of 30 when you could gift one with an aggregate Metacritic score of 29 instead?
Wow, I didn't realize the game scored that poorly! I heard the ending is quite something though.
Actually is it still on Steam for the rest of the world?

Select your gun. Then select your horse.
@TNTrooper is so classy that i forgot to keep my own. You are awesome! Thank you for the Terraria! =D
Gotta train dem ponies, man. GOTTA MAKE EM STRONGER.

I am excited for the christmas sale. I'm getting a nice chunk of a paycheck right around then so it should be good times.
