Has anyone had issues with taking in-game screenshots with Steam? Whenever I have the overlay up in game and I hit the screenshot button, it works fine (including the overlay in the image), however when I'm actually in game it just doesn't seem to work.
Edit: And by "doesn't seem to work" I mean nothing happens at all.
Edit2: Apparently it just doesn't like the "Home" or "Delete" key as a shortcut, I set it to F12 and it started working again.
Wow guys. I just now realized that Steam uses your own screenshots to populate the background images in your library. I was poking around looking at some of my games, wandered on to Mass Effect 2, and thought it was pretty weird that the steam promo shots looked like my Shepard, doing some of the very same poses I had taken.
I feel a little dumb now, but that's kind of awesome.

Ahaha, oh my god. I just realized my Civ 5 picture is the standoff my Iriquois had as my wall of attackers was held just outside the Aztec capital by a two hex deep Jaguar Warrior force. Man, that's awesome.

i already stretched myself too far with gal civ.

I really regret not doubling that TF2 number. TF2 was my favorite game of all time until they ruined it with outlandish updates and community crap. I actually have a TF2 painting hung next to my desk.

The game is excellent, and my reaction to this sale is to gift it to everyone on my friends list who doesn't have it, but that would cost... just over $100. So instead I'll do a BASTION CONTEST
I can't think of any clever contest rules, so this contest is simple: send me something that makes me want to give you the game. MS Paint, words, youtube... whatever format you want. Send me anything that will make me send the game to you (and if you're not on my friends list, also link to your profile, because I'm lazy and won't send you anything if you make it too much work for me).
I have three (3) gift copies to give away, but if I get more than three great entries I can always grab a couple of extra, so there is no hard upper limit on winners.
Since Bastion is getting most of the discussion, thought I'd point out Defense Grid is also on sale, just in an unannounced one. 5 bucks by itself, or 7.50 with all DLC including the brand new one that is 5 bucks on its' own.

Started up an Erudite Warlock and played about an hour (I thought it had been 25 minutes. oops).
For your consideration: it looks horrible (and I don't care about graphics), is terribly optimized (I can play Skyrim on max with no trouble; my FPS here is somewhere below 30), has terrible netcode (150+ ping on a 10 Mbps connection), and you're pretty restricted regarding class and race options on the free and silver levels.

There is a link there to an "Inventory History" but mine shows blank... maybe they're still implementing it.

Okay, Steam needs to have a way to gift games you don't play anymore. I have about 30-40 games (some good, some meh) that really need some love but I can't gift from my collection.

mine has a listing, from Aug 14, when I used the inventory to trade some TF2 items, and then on Oct 22, when I traded Frozen Synapse. It's not showing gifts, because the gifts didn't pass through the inventory.
So, is that Defense Grid GlaDOS DLC going to go on sale? It's weird, I won't buy the DLC for myself for $5, but I gifted out the full version. 'Cause all the DLC plus the base game costs less than the base game and DLC separately, and sending an 'incomplete' gift would be dickish. Bleh.

Since now the US evening crew is probably rolling around, I'm going to put up a little gift guide for people who may be newer to the community (or like me), getting ready for their first steam holiday season rush.
A lot of us give gifts around here. A lot of us are also sort of lazy. Here is a quick guide to being a good GIFTEE:
1.) Make it possible to track you from PA Forums to Steam. A link directly to your steam ID is usually the most convenient. Remember, your Steam ID is different than your steam name. If you just include text to your steam name, we have to search and scroll through 5 pages to find you (and we may not find you if you're not using the same name/avatar combo!).
2.) Make it possible to track you from Steam to PA Forums. Best bet is using similar avatar/name. Understandably, some people don't want to do that. In that case, you should have "I'm x on Penny Arcade Forums!" in your profile blurb.
Remember, if you're selected for a gift from a stranger on here it will be, usually, one of two ways:
You will either post in the thread (so they will go to your profile to friend you and then to the store to send a gift
or
Someone will want to gift a certain game and go to the store page where you can see everyone who has it on their wishlist.
Also, remember that a gifter can see when you added a game to your wishlist. If you add it on the day of the sale, you might have a smaller chance of being gifted it than someone who has been interested in it since release.
To be a good GIFTER:
hey you're giving someone a gift you're already good, move along nothing to see here.
Except make sure that you are identifiable from steam to PA Forums. Some people are bashful and are nervous to message a gifter and say "hey thanks, I have no idea who you are on forums!"
