Bullet Witch is a third-person shooter for the Xbox 360 that combines elements of occult horror, sci-fi technology, and postapocalyptic grimness--with a bit of dark humor and sex appeal mixed in for good measure. The former comes from the geists, zombielike enemies with a penchant for wise cracks and wearing human-skin-like T-shirts. The latter comes from the titular heroine of the game, whose real name is Alicia. As we discovered in our most recent hands-on time with the game, Alicia is much more than a pretty face, thanks to her powerful magical spells and her bullet-spewing gun-rod.
I saw some info on it a while back and it looked cool. The trailers are pretty sweet but I'm not sure but I do like the idea of blowing up Zombies, Vampires and other nasties with a "gun-rod" and magic. Anyone else waiting on this? It comes out this week and is priced at $49.99 for the 360.
Yeah, it's not really a Game On type of game. That said, I would like to buy it, but not for $50. Cavia also made Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex for the PS2 and I enjoyed that.

I think that's my feeling as well, not worth $50 but maybe $20 when I find it used or something.
It's kind of neat... you can blow up and use telekinesis on pretty much anything that isn't nailed down. One of the cooler things I've done so far is accidentally knocking a water tower down with lightning, and then rolling it over a bunch of guys with Willpower (her version of telekinesis, I guess) There's also an explodable gas station in the first level that's surprisingly fun to nuke. It looks like it's only six stages long, so they'll probably be padding it out with filthy micropayments.
It's entertaining, but probably not $50 entertaining.

Doubt it'll have DLC. It's been out for like a year in Japan, and there wasn't any for it over there.

That's what I heard about Ghost in the Shell: S.A.C., but I liked it for what it was. Played through it a couple times, too.
Doesn't have to be a system-seller to enjoy it. There are quite a few 6/10 games I have enjoyed in the past, taking into account that they aren't amazing.
Supposedly the framerate consistency and camera is slightly improved in the US version. Cool that they included the Japanese cover on the reserve side too. Guess Atari's going to try to out-Atlus niche publishers now that selling games for $19.99 failed miserably and selling Driver games also failed miserably.
Best of luck to them. Infogrames was never the BEST publisher or developer but they'd put out some great stuff. The Atari name didn't have much to it but upon assuming the mantle they definitely plumbed it to its depths. It would be cool if the name could be associated with halfway decent product again instead of constant incontrovertible failure.

This is a game that might have been cool like four years ago. Looks like the same old same old, skinny girl with huge ass gun that looks like it needs six guys just to lift... it's been done. The "occult" aspect seems very tacked on.
Hey look at the dumb asshole who put "GAME ON" in front of a thread about a game that a) isn't out yet, and b) probably won't have a multiplayer component.

Wow little harsh on the guy, he already admitted he was a newb :P
Game looks average, I would need a demo before parting with any cash for it, probably wouldnt pay more than 20 anyways. The video looked very hit and miss, and the graphics looked pretty bad for the most part, but alot of the screenshots I saw a while back looked decent.
I'll buy anything from the developers of the amazing Drakengard 2. This game looks badass. Now just get me a 360.
Was Drakengard 2's music anything like Drakengard 1? 1's really grated on me, except for a few tracks.
It really, really wasn't.
I did not like the first one's music. Each track was like three seconds of an orchestra, looping for eternity. And it showed very very badly.
And while Drakengard 2 uses more synth-y orchestra stuff, the actual songs themselves are better. And there is one really awesome orchestra song, as opposed to a thousand crappy orchestra songs.

So is this game just Gungrave but prettier, or what? I've seen a few videos, and it didn't look like there was much to it beyond walking around shooting.

1. Drakengard II's soundtrack is a total 360(pun not intended) from Drakengard 1's. It's filled with amazing orchestra, and probably the best soundtrack to come out of 2006.
2. From someone who has played nothing but last-gen games, Bullet Witch's graphics look very beautiful and have a nice sheen. I also love the physics.
Anyways, I decided to rent this. The graphics are very underwhelming, and the controls feel very stiff. And there is almost no music, which is really annoying.
But I like the concept, and the zombie soldiers (or 'Geist' as the game calls them) are pretty neat. The spells also add a nice bit of strategy.

huh?
That was probably the wrong thing to say. I've just seen quite a few Japanese games that don't take advantage of the 360 (which to be fair isn't very popular in Japan), and some of them could be passed off on the PS2 or the original XBOX.

I'll retract the statement, though.
Oh. On the 360, yeah. I agree. Capcom not so much, but that's just one.

When is it out, again?

It looks kind of shitty to me.

Bet it's better than FF-DoC.

No need to be so aggressive.

I have no idea if its paid content or free, I have a JP Live account right now so I could go check if there is any interest.
Hey.
Shut up.
By the way, pheezer, the game IS out. But no, it doesn't have multiplayer.

Enemy Variety. There are about 3 or 4 enemy archetypes in the game that I've seen, and they aren't very interesting. The AI is piss poor to boot.
Level design. Very linear and bland, and you spend more time walking around than shooting.
Controls. Very stiff and icky.
The physics engine. It's there, but quite underused. You can push objects and blow them up and...that's about it. About 90% of them are cars, too.
