You know, the level with the liquid tiberium truck, where you get the avatars.

Thankfully, this one only took me 2 tries. The second try, I just sent the avatars after the jugs, blew them all up, and sent engineers inside them to take them over. Leveling 3 GDI bases with 6 avatars and 4 juggs is pretty fuckin easy. :D

I had insane trouble with that one. Eventually I just sent a suicide rush of Avatars to take out all the turrets, and sent the truck through while everything else was killing the Avatars.

Heh, I stole their bases and crushed them with their own units. Seemed like the Nodish thing to do.

I did the same, took me a couple of tries at first.
The main thing was crippling that base in the upper right while keeping their infantry at bay on the left with sandbag bunkers, then sending some engineers to cap what structures they had left up there.

I mainly used predator tanks and rocket soldiers.

The southeast base gave me the most grief with those fucking air units.

Don't use riflemen bunkers. They'll get taken out by flame troopers. Use APCs with riflemen in them. Doesn't cost much more, adds more weapon fire provides air cover and is yet another unit that will level up off of the stream of infantry. Six or so should do the job nicely although feel free to go with a few more.

Make sure you have two harvesters going as soon as you can to fund yourself.

Don't move on the north base until you have an overwhelming force. I'm talking 15-20 tanks. After that the rest is pretty much a cakewalk.

Also, it helps if when you're heading up to rescue the MCV you level any garrisonable building along the way.

From the ~20 2on2s I've played so far, balance is fairly good.

GDI has a strong early game, while NOD seems to have the weakest, but NOD can compensate with their defensive towers, which are stronger than the other faction's.

Scrin have multiple possibilities, fast teching to air units or amassing seekers, an early game rush with disruptors and buzzers is also possible.

Personally I play GDI with a Scrin ally, and have seen games go either way vs Nod and Scrin, but I haven't seen a GDI/NOD matchup against GDI and Scrin yet.

Its kind of a mixed bag really.
Some of the big complainants from players that I've seen are:

Avatars: What are the good for? Absolutely nothing!
Basically, people don't feel that the Avatars are strong enough for there cost, because they add in the cost of the extra units needed to give it awesome powers. Sure a stock Avatar isn't great, but a upgraded one, or a group of upgraded ones, is something to look out for (if you even can, considering they can go stealth when standing still). But it is, expensive to get them to that point.

    X unit is Useless:
This happens a lot from almost all sides, except GDI. I cant really think of some one saying a unit is useless on that faction. Some of the most common ones are Scrin's Early Game units. There not power house units like the GDIs, and they cant assault a base as well as the GDI's and Nod's units. Also, Infantry in general, people don't like the fact that there easy to kill.

Scrin have a poor econ: Apparently, even though this race was kinda marked as a great econ race because they don't need silos, the Scrin some how manage to get $500/min less then GDI and Nod harvesters.

Whats Overpowered? EVERYTHING!: Basically, if you can figure out a way to rush with a unit, some one is going to tell you its over powered. Shadow Teams, are great rushing units, Pred Tanks, Scorpions, Storm Riders, Venoms, hell even MCVs are all great rushing units. Yes I said, MCVs! You can place a power plant, pack it up, and walk it down to the enemy base and manage to get a barracks down in there base and pump out engineers. Its probably the fastest rush tactic in the game, ending a player in under two min.

MAMMOTHS OMG: People hate Mammoth Tanks. Well People who don't play GDI. Really Mammoth Tanks are the best ground unit in the game. Pound for Pound there isn't a single unit that moves across the ground that can stand toe to toe with a Mammoth. It will kill your $3000 Walker, and your $2000 stock Avatar. It will crush your basic tanks and shoot down most of your high end tanks.

But theres a lot of things here people just don't get yet. Mammoths, though beastly, have probably the worst rear armor in the game. If you sneak up on a Mammoth from behind, that thing better turn around fast or its going to get tore up. Avatars can go stealth, this makes them extremely useful with battle tactics. You assault a base with some Scorpions from one side enough, the player may go D heavy over there allowing some stealth Avatars to come in from the other side and destroy your base with Flame Throwers. Most units have a use, but people just don't care to realize it.

Things I feel are true balance issues.
    • Econ:
GDI and Nod have almost the exact same $/min for every harvester. What it comes down to with these factions is who expanded faster, and who has more harvesters. But when it comes to the Scrin, they can not keep up. If you play Nod, or GDI for a wile, and go back to play the Scrin you are going to find that you are out of money a lot. This slows down your ability to build anything, making you vary easy to kill with a good rush.

If the Scrin Managed to get more money, then it might actually be more of a fair fight at the first 3-4 min of a match. They may not beable to assault your base and destroy it with there T1 units like a GDI or Nod player can. But they would beable to defend there base well enough so that they can live long enough to get better units.
    • Early Rushing:
I feel that some of the rushing tactics in the game don't have vary good counters. The one that bothers me the most is the MCV rush. This is just insane. The ability to walk your base in to another players base and completely take it over in under 2 min is kind of unbelievable. What makes it such a winning tactic is that no one sees it coming, and no one prepares for that kind of attack. But I guess its risk balances it out. Because really, if you get there two late, or cant capture enough in time, you have lost the match.

GDI Tank Spam is another rush tactic that is really really hard to beat. The best thing you can do is play GDI and spam tanks back. This doesn't make for fun or interesting matches. How to fix this with out braking the unit is kind of hard I think. Making them cost more would not be a good solution. The only thing I could think of is making the War Factory require a Barracks. As it is now, you can skip the Barracks completely and go right for tanks. Making this a requirement would force people to take time, and money to build a Barracks. This really aids them though, because with out a barracks you cant defend against a tank rush.
    • Earl Base Defense:
The early base defense in the game is a bit week, and you really cant spam base D and expect to stop a tank rush of any kind. They take to much power, and cost to much money to make them effective. This makes Turtling a nearly unusable tactic. This would also help the Scrin in areas that they need. They can not rush early game and win, they really do have to Turtle in there base and hold out for the big guns.
There may be more. But I cant seem to think of anything else right now.

I'd just like to say that since you mentioned that (blindly obvious when I think about it) MCV tactic, I've started building one or two engineers as part of my early game build order.

Which meant when someone tried to pull that one on me, my Engineer ran out from behind a tree and capped their MCV seconds after redeploying outside my base.

You can't really play the Scrin like you play the other factions which throws people for a loop. You need more refineries than you would with the other sides. But the upside is you can amass huge amounts of cash and spend it at your lesiure. My build orders have had upwards of four refineries per field depending on the field size. The drawback is it can be a real pain to manage your to enconomy correctly.

However if you get your economy rolling with them you should find yourself in a very good position.

It's so expensive to make them useful, it's unreal. It's trash. To have a fully decked out Avatar costs about 7000. And stealth when standing still is damn near worthless.

    X unit is Useless:
This happens a lot from almost all sides, except GDI.

I think the Scrin units are all pretty much fine, except the Gun Walker and Corruptor. Never seen people use those. Nod, however, is the worst culprit here. Militants, Rocket squads, Avatars, Bikes, Flame tanks, Black Hand, and Nod Commando are all trash. And Buggies are only used for EMPing.

MAMMOTHS OMG: People hate Mammoth Tanks. It will kill your $3000 Walker, and your $2000 stock Avatar.

A stock Avatar is 3000, chief.

But theres a lot of things here people just don't get yet. Mammoths, though beastly, have probably the worst rear armor in the game.

Is that so? I've seen a guy drive like 7 or 8 stealth tanks behind an occupied Mammoth and kill it with their salvos, but just barely. And that's 7 or 8 stealth tanks. You better be damned sure 8000 worth of units does SOMETHING against the rear armor of a 2500 unit. I'm fine with how powerful the Mammoth is but it's WAAAAAY too cheap. Why is the best unit in the game the cheapest?

If you sneak up on a Mammoth from behind, that thing better turn around fast or its going to get tore up. Avatars can go stealth, this makes them extremely useful with battle tactics. Um... they're only stealthed when standing still. The enemy WILL see them as they walk up to their base. Do you see now why this is worthless?

Just my two cents on the balance ordeal.

The Bog, can you use quotes? or do they frighten you? 'Cause reading your post is extremely confusing. O_o

The reason the Mammoths are so cheep is because thats what GDI Is about, fast, powerful tanks. Thats where they are strongest. Also, they are very slow, require a 4000 credit upgrade that takes a long time to build, and need a tech center to build... thats a decent amount of teching up to do. Mammoths are not the best unit in the game for the price, with out there rail guns.

But besides the rear attack on a Mammoth, theres also the option of bombing them with air. If you are playing Nod, you should know whats going on all the time. Shadow teams, placed around the map will allow you to see everything. You could strike the Mammoths before they even get to your base, on some maps you could do it twice.

Really though, if your playing Nod, theres no reason why you shouldn't have won before the player even gets Mammoths. Even before he has like 10 Pred Tanks. Shadow Team rushes are probably the most effective rush tactic with Nod. You go in, kill off there MCV, kill off there Crane, and kill off there War Factory and you win.

I don't know, I'm really liking the Scrin.

I tried changing my strategy with them for the maps where it's ideal to expand your resources. Most people seem to aim towards pushing vehicular supremacy. I decided to make some engineers to rush. They were quickly dispatched with the machine gun turrets the person erected once he saw them.

Ok I was expecting that. Oh hey, Shock Troopers. Let's see what they can do. They ended up keeping the enemy busy while my teamates got their shit together. I'm starting to see the strategy behind this game and I'm liking it.

Yeah. Sorry. Because you quoted someone with your quote it confused me so I got rid of the quotes all together lol. But yeah, GDI is not about fast powerful tanks. Just powerful tanks. Bombing them? Sure. I believe it takes either 3 or 4 Vertigos to take one out. And you can't mass Vertigos like you can Mammoths. Still, it's a very good tactic against Mammoths. It hurts them a great deal, I know. Of course usually you'll lose a Vertigo for each bombing run with the Mammoth anti-air missiles.

Killing off an MCV with shadows? That must take like... around 12 shadows. Simply not something you do... though I guess it'd be pretty funny to try it. Who knows, it might work. Pour EVERYTHING you've got into shadows.

I usually go power plant >> barracks >> secret shrine >> instantly use shadow ability for 2 shadows, build 2 more, and sell the secret shrine for the fifth shadow. Those 5 can destroy a refinery or a war factory. And while they're doing that I try to scrounge up enough money to return from the economical sinkhole I just put myself into. I can't imagine going 12 shadows.

I know for a fact you can take out a MCV with 10 shadow teams in the first 5 min of a match.

    Shadow Team Rush Build Order:
    Build Crane, then place it.
    Build Power Plant, Build Refinery
    Place Power Plant, Build Barracks,
Place Refinery, Sell Refinery, Build second Refinery
    Build Barracks, then place it.
    Build Secret Shrine,
    Place Refinery,
    Place Secret Shrine,
    Use Shadow Team Power.
Queue up 8 shadow teams between both barracks. (so 4 at each)

By the time you have done this, you will have enough Shadow Teams to kill a MCV when you order all of them to bomb at once and you will have two Harvesters going. Send the Shadow teams in to the enemy base, and kill there MCV and fly away. While you are doing this, queue up two War Factory's. They should finish by the time you are done killing off any way for them to build structures (MCV, Crane, and there War Factory). Once you place the War Factory's, start making Scorpions.

Thats how I do it. I have yet to see it fail.

Also, now that I think about it. Venoms would be a more cost effective way to kill Mammoths. If the Mammoths have rail guns you should have Laser upgrades. Venoms are great because there expendable, just make a crap load of them.

Update on the FMV desynch: I found a seemingly-permanent fix on (ergh) GameFAQs. Once you start the game, alt-tab and open your task manager. Go to the Processes tab and right-click cnc3.exe (or whatever it's called), go to priority, and set it to AboveNormal. Worked like a charm for me, hopefully someone else will see this and get the answer they need.

Righto, Happylilelf. Also, that build order is interesting, Paradox. Dual hands of Nod lol. I've never heard of that. But I really don't think it'll have the impact you think it'll have. 5 minutes is a LOOOONG time, mostly because your build order establishes a very solid economy before even thinking of building Shadows. I straight up forego Refineries until my 5 shadows are in their base killing their dudes. Which is probably within a minute or so. But sure, I'll try your build.
