Can I program my Panasonic PT-44LCX65 remote to work as a media remote for the 360?
Our 360 remote died a few months ago, and the new Netflix interface is not controller-friendly. The remote for my TV is programmable and serves as a universal remote, but I was wondering if it has a code for the 360.
So far my Google Fu has failed me. Does anyone have any experience with this TV remote? Alternatively is your Google Fu better than mine?
(Please don't recommend remotes for me to buy. I'm unemployed with zero income. Cheers.)
I honestly don't know anything about remotes for the 360.
But every controller needs a chip from Microsoft to work with the 360. That's why all the 3rd party hardware is officially licensed.
So unless your remote came with a nice sticker on it that says it will work with the 360, it most likely doesn't have any way to make it.

Controllers, yes. Remotes, no. The official 360 remote is literally just a remote. It sends out an IR signal to the console in the same way your TV remote sends one to the telly. That special chip isn't necessary in a 360 media remote, and having thrown mine against the wall in frustration, getting a good look at its innards in the process, I can tell you that it hasn't got one.
Logically, then, it must be possible to program a universal remote to function as a media remote for the 360. Stands to reason.

Does that help? Never really used universal remotes a lot (assuming that's what your panasonic is.)
