    $100 for a 32GB memory stick?!

BAHHHHHHH HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Where can I score the awesome drugs that Sony is on?

    I just paid $100 for a 250GB Xbox HD

I checked Best Buy to try to get the average consumer price, and there's 15 offered for below $50 and 15 for between $50 and $99.

So yeah. But keep in mind, these cards will be seven percent slower and smell bad and not have the magic pixie dust Sony puts in theirs, etc. etc.

I just want to point out, saying 'Class ten' for memory cards means absolutely nothing. a 10mb/s memory card (Which is what most of those super cheap SD cards are.) would be absolutely atrocious for a PSV game. Even PSP games take forever to load on such low end cards. SD cards can reach up to 96+mb/s read/write speeds (And a 16gb 95mb/s card is 160$.)

So, until you know the speed of the PSV cards, you can't even make a reasonable assumption of the price parity compared to a normal SD card. (Even something like a 30mb/s SD card costs about 40$+ for a 8gb card.)

The main question should be why it has jack shit internal memory except as a way of disguising costs.

    There's no reason.

Dollar dollar bills y'all. It's silly Sony shit.

Doesn't mean I won't be there day one, like I was for the 3DS.

There should be enough internal memory for game saving in the system itself, or it should come with a small card free of charge.

How anyone can defend a game system coming out in 2011/2012 without the ability to fucking save your game data out of the box with no added cost to the consumer I will never understand. It was stupid when the 360 and PSP did it years ago and it's even stupider now.

Lots of consoles have required memory cards in the past and not shipped with one inbox.

I played and 100%d Sonic Adventure when I first got my Dreamcast without turning off the console for three days until the shops opened after Christmas and I could go buy a card.

There should've been 2 to 4 GB internal or packed-in. I slammed Nintendo for the same thing before they announced the pack-in SD card.

I understand completely why they had to do it (to reach the $250 price tag), but it doesn't mean I think it's a good idea.

The difference is that this is the first flash memory/cartridge based system to require a memory card. (That I know of)

Typically when your games come on this kind of media you can save directly to the media the game comes on.

Yeah, and the fact that the game won't even boot without memory inserted means Scarab's situation couldn't happen here.

This brings up the idea that maybe it's higher read/write speed, but even choco wasn't sure.

I figure any day now the inevitable story will break on how someone has figured out what the write speed is, and that they're not this super fast memory that justifies the cost.

I could understand that, but Sony's lack of confirmation in this regard makes it easier to just say it's Sony being Sony. MiniDisc, Atrac, BluRay, Memory Cards, etc. Latest in a long line.

    Indeed.

And someone yesterday was going on about higher security or whatever, but y'know... that security is for Sony, not the consumer. But the consumer is the one paying for it. So those cards better have a really high read/write speed.

Capcom has a bar, no not a video game bar so you won't be be able to piss in the urinal that is shaped like Megaman swallowing your golden flow.

    http://www.ubergizmo.com/2011/12/capcom-bar-ready-to-rock-and-roll-on-january-25/
Oil and water do not mix, and that’s a fact. How about video games and beer? All that is missing from this merry party to make it an awesome threesome would be some pizza, and at least Capcom has got the formula down pat by opening up a bar. Yes sir, this is not a video games bar, but rather, one that requires bouncers at the door to check the IDs of those lining up to get in simply because it will be serving alcoholic beverages that will certainly dull and dampen the reflexes of gamers. I wonder whether the opening would be a cosplay theme, where you will see folks dressed up as Megamans and Street Fighter characters among others. This bar will open up in Tokyo’s bustling Shinjuku area, and the whole idea of it is to be a meeting point for cultural and public relations for the video games company. Unimaginatively named Capcom Bar, it will open its doors next January 25th in Shinjuku’s Pasela Resort. I wonder if the menu will have creatively named drinks, like Hadouken or Akuma’s Revenge.

And yes such urinals exist in Japan, though they're usually odd looking people.

Opening night, Capcom series cosplayers get in free.

All Megaman Legends cosplayers get turned away though.

Sorta off-thread topic, but anybody have any experience buying "refurbished" products from overstock.com?

I'm thinking about picking up the Halo Reach headset to match my console but it's increasingly difficult to find online, and overstock.com has it for around $30, though its refurbished.

XBOX 360 Halo Reach Wireless Headset (Refurbished)

Looks like the Microsoft store has it for its MSRP of $50 so I may get it from there just to be safe but I was looking for a second opinion on the matter before I pulled the trigger.

One would assume that you don't see Jedi with respirators because they shun them as "dark technology" and simply let themselves die instead.

the dark side also makes you like, disintegrate slowly so, if you get hurt you likely won't heal well on your own. hence all the robot parts (plus they look cool too). there are some dark jedi that are basically walking corpses.
