Razer made the blunder of the century. This is even worse than The Old Republic.
It's like Bioware is the Titanic, Razer is the iceberg and now they are BOTH sinking.

Sony seems to redefine what the ten year cycle means as they see fit.

Early in the PS3 life, they claimed the PS2 had a "ten year cycle", which the PS3 would be modeled on. This "plan" had it be superceded after 6.5 years (with the PS3 revealed after 5 years at E3 2006). Ten years in, PS2s were certainly doing well, but that didn't mean "no PS3 for ten years!".

At this years E3, it will be 5.5 years since the PS3 launch, and the reason for no PS4 reveal is "the ten year plan". So what does "ten year cycle" mean now? No PS4 until 8 years? 9? The full 10?

Next year. They want Vita to have a Christmas by itself. If the PS4 was this year they would be competing with themselves come the holidays.

Ohhh, is that what it is?

I thought there was an issue/blunder I missed. I've heard nothing but positive things about TOR.

    Everyone loves it.

    Guys, it's a joke post.

That's an awful backpeddle and I don't believe you. :(

Really, TOR is the best example where I see people on the net saying they don't like it for whatever reason, and thus it is a failure. Despite there being people who DO like it. It's the dumbest logic train. It's not even a train. It's a minecart that people shout angrily from as they pump the bar that makes it go forward.

Note, the Razer thing is just a prototype. Razer loves doing that stuff. The Switchblade they showed at CES last year is nowhere near done apparently and still is listed on the "concept" section of their website.

Razer operates like a car manufacturer in that respect. Crazy concept car first and then boil down those ideas into something you can sell.

Notice that they almost all increased from last week...but Vita had the lowest increase. Even 360 had a larger percentage (and actual) gain.

Vita is still neck and neck with PSP's launch performance, but PSP's fifth week sales were at ~60k and that lasted several weeks. Not sure if we can expect to see that here.

Again: doom is fun to talk about, but I don't think it's actually doomed in the long run just yet.

I'd be interested to know how many more units Sony shipped to retailers. 500,000 was the initial shipment, and they've reached that, but the portable has certainly not sold out.

It's interesting how this is clearly the golden age of indie games and the top games are setting sales records every year but the industry is stagnating overall.

Kaz says no PS4 at E3, no sir.
During a roundtable with reporters at the Consumer Electronics Show, a reporter asked a question to Hirai attributing comments to the head of its videogame division, Andrew House, that there would be no announcement about a PlayStation 4 at the show.

Hirai, who appointed House for the job, said they are not talking about a new home console now and that they don’t plan to do so at E3.

“Andy (House) is absolutely right in that we are not making any announcements at E3,” Hirai said. “I’ve always said a 10-year life cycle for PS3, and there is no reason to go away from that.”

Oh, Kaz, Kaz, Kaz. C'mon now, buddy. We all know that the big console makers "talk about" the next console years before it's revealed, let alone released. Don't develop a reputation for being full of shit THIS early in your reign.

I'm curious if this has more to do with how easy it is to get indie games published on nearly any system (PC/Steam/XBLIG/etc) or with how word of mouth on the internet has gotten easier and easier for the good indie games to spread quickly and be noticed.

Falcom just started putting music out on the US iTunes. For anyone familiar with Falcom (Ys, Legend of Heroes), this is very good news.

Looks like they're working backwards from their most recent stuff. Ao no Kiseki, Zero no Kiseki, and Ys vs Sora no Kiseki original albums are all up.

Now if they'd just put it on Amazon music

Or bandcamp! Bandcamp is a cool place to get music.

    *cough*

    Rumor time.

As always, thanks to our friend that we discover an Epsilon proprietary information. Our member who works in the world of video game sales we announced that Sony planned to launch 80 000 PS Vita February 22 in France. But, following disappointing sales in Japan, the company revised its copy, and finally that will not run 40 000 machines as follows: 75% PS Vita Wifi and 25% PS Vita 3G.

Yes, I'm sure your friend is most reliable. *pat pat*

The PlayStation 4 could feature super-hi-res 8k output, haptic touch feedback and Kinect-like sensor functionality, according to SCE’s executive VP of technology and CTO Masaaki Tsuruta.

Speaking at the International Electron Devices Meeting in Washington DC in December, he said Sony’s focus for its next gaming projects are focused very much on advanced semiconductor research.

Though Tsuruta didn’t draw a clear distinction between technologies Sony intends to implement in its next PlayStation and those it is only experimenting with, a number of directions were hinted at that will define what PS4 has to offer.

Super HD displays seem to be one focus for the machine, with resolutions between 4k and 8k with frame rates upwards of 300k, while new silicon designs paving the way for low latency response.

One of the most interesting points regarded haptic technology. E&T reports that the new tech is able to replicate sensations, taking feedback way beyond simple vibration and resistance.

This, Tsuruta explained, automatically leads to the device increasing the amount of data it senses from players. The aim is to have the device read a user’s vital signs, body heat and facial expressions – reading emotions being the ultimate goal.

MCV revealed last week that Sony intends to reveal the first details about its next PlayStation at E3 later this year, though Sony has dismissed the rumours.

The PS4 could feature a genuine money printer, three 50 inch LED displays and a blowjob dispensing machine.

Super HD, pffft. They can't even pull off 1080p at 60fps on their current machine.

So, even more things for 99% of developers to look at and go "nope, I'm just gonna make you run around and shoot the guys until we both get bored".

Developers couldn't afford to make games for that rumored machine.

Unless you have a really big TV and a keen eye, it can be difficult to tell the difference between 1280p and 720p. For that matter, some people don't even notice the difference between SDTVs & HDTVs. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that resolutions above 1280p isn't going to be a big selling point to hardly anyone.
