Just picked up the Iaito and the moveset really reminds me of mitsirugi from soul caliber. Also just got to bottom of blight town and can't find the fire. I am running from these dudes throwing boulders and I found qeelogs and that area with the moving platforms. Im so lost
Trying to kill Capra at lvl 6 is....much more difficult than I expected. My +5 scimitar just doesn't hurt him hardly at all after magic weapon wears off and I get drilled whenever I try to recast it. I may have to go up a couple levels so I can use the uchi and try to kill him with the bleed.

Are you doing the plunge attacks or trying to go toe to toe?

I tried the plunge a couple times, but he can recover quickly enough to get a shot on me as I'm dashing back to the stairs occasionally, and he can easily one shot me. I can soak the normal hits with the shield but I have to empty the stamina bar to get any hits in that way.
I think if I can recast magic weapon I can kill him with the plunging attack if I get a little lucky, but I've tried enough times that I need a break. Could use a better weapon but can't get my scimitar up to fire without green titanite and there's no way I can farm in Blighttown at this stage. I also thought about farming up some blooming purple moss and trying to get him toxic with dung pies.
Ditched the Forest Hunter covenant by taking out the merchant and his ninja bro, since I wasn't getting in any decent PvP with it. A few nights ago, I could get in 2 on 2 fights in the forest. Lately, any time I invade, there are two high-level campers and an AFK phantom behind them, like the tools got someone to fill up an invasion slot so it's always a 2 to 1 ambush. Oh well, I'd rather focus on story progression at the moment anyway.

Try blighttown anyway, you'll never know unless you try

@Zoku_Gojira - Stuff like that is common throughout the game when invading mate. The only time you're going to get guaranteed 1v1 fights is when you're the host and they invade you.
Your best bet is to get a blue eye orb or red eye orb and try pvp like that. Sure you may still get 1v2, but it's less common, unless you do it in anor londo.

Thanks for the advice, but I rarely initiated PvP before joining a covenant that encouraged it, so I probably won't mess around with invading until I try and level up with Darkmoon Blades, which I may put off to next playthrough.

After looking a bit into Dark Souls (a few reviews etc) I've picked this up. My questions is that a lot of reviews mention the multiplayer aspect of the game (the ghosts of other players etc).
I don't have a Gold Xbox live account due to my internet at home being slow/really unreliable. Will I still see the messages left by other players or am I completely locked out of that stuff?
Yeah, I'm pretty slow though, and I'm still using starting armour. Also I suck at this game. As soon as I get them on low health they start using an AoE ability that sends out a white explosion that I can't seem to dodge, which is pretty frustrating.
This is the build I'm following. So far I've only managed to obtain the Drake Sword.
Okay cool. I'm constantly nervous doing some irreversible damage in this game.
Well, do remember to not use the firekeeper soul you get from her cage to reinforce your flask, or otherwise you'll bone the questline. Just hold on to it until everything is done and she's revived.

Wow, the second portion of the New Londo ruins is a Titanite Chunk FACTORY!!!
In my 4-Kings boss runs I was able to get all of my lightning weapons to +4 by collecting chunks on the way. Still haven't managed to defeat 4-Kings but I've killed 3/4 a few times. Is level 49 doable for a "normal" player here?
i can't wait to start playing this game. i got the CE when it released but wanted to platinum Demon's Souls first and that goal is just over the horizon (only about 1 whole playthrough to the finish line!) thinking about rolling a Wanderer or a Thief. any advice on builds?
keep Vit and End at reasonable levels and focus on either Strength, Dex, Int, or Faith
or go for a hybrid build
just don't put points into resistance
alright i'll keep that in mind while i play. i'm real weary about hybrid builds. in Demon's i just went for the minimum so that i could farm with soulsucker and have a spell as an initiator or against bosses weak against certain magics. that strategy still going to be a viable one in Dark or am i kidding myself?
I've had a real resurgence of my Demon's Souls addiction lately, the one thing I've noticed is a real lack of areas where I can find a blue phantom to help; like in several days of playing, I've seen zero. I'm wondering if I'm forgetting some game mechanic that is required for them to show up, or if the game is just old and there are few players on the servers.
Is there a way for me to see how "active" the game is on my platform (PS3)? I still see messages and the normal phantoms from blood-stains, but for all I know, they could be stored on the server indefinitely if there are not new ones to take their place.

I would at least buy a 3-month card for Dark Souls. I love this game to pieces, and part of that is because of the multiplayer. I've wasted so much time helping other people with bosses and PvP'ing.

I actually prefer uchi over Iaito, it's got a better move set imo.

it does take a little bit of the fun out of the game, though

that sucks
Question:
it's a pretty neat event
Approximately none. There are some messages that come with the game (a lot that arrived with the latest patch).
Player messages were just kind of annoying for me.
How so?
