everybody who has not already needs to play Dead Space 1 and 2, because they are both fantastic games and almost complete analogues of Alien and Aliens
I mean really absolutely fantastic games
also, DS2 managed to have a female lead who retained her femininity and was completely believable and also a goddamn badass
God yes. DS2 does not get enough credit for being amazing.

I'm probably gonna do another run through of DS2 for Xmas
dead space 2 had nice facial expressions despite the main character being in a mask
Marty: The future, it's where you're going? Doc: That's right, twenty five years into the future. I've always dreamed on seeing the future, looking beyond my years, seeing the progress of mankind. I'll also be able to see who wins the next twenty-five world series.
also, Thank you, Annie. For some reason your post reminded me that there is now a Youtube app on Xbox Live and I just watched the Prometheus trailer on my big TV
for games to scare, they need to have the right viewing setting even more so than movies. i think they both need you to allow yourself to be sucked in for the scares to happen; which includes playing in the dark with no other noise going on (headphones really offer a great isolation from outside noise when you're listening to a scary thing)
but I believe videogames need this especially because of the fact that they have another sense that has to be immersed in order for you to completely feel for the protagonist in danger. talking about you touching the controller and you feeling the controls of your character
that said, I think there is MASSIVE potential for scares in video games due to the fact that you are in control of your character's fate.
Crow play deadspace right this instant young lady!

System Shock 2 scares the shit out of me, even with its aged as hell poo graphics
It's partly the unpredictability of the enemies and the lack of pause in menus, but mostly the sound design. The sound in that game is incredibly immersive and unnerves the hell out of me.
Dead Space didn't do that for me at all, really. It's still a pretty fun game though. I also have weird opinions.

Oh, hey, look, a bunch of links to the leaked version with the quality issues. Perfect. Exactly the thing I asked for.
I believe she was also the Irish mother reading to her kids as the ship sank in Titanic.
James Cameron loves Jennette Goldstein. And she has serious talent to pull off such disparate characters with few the wiser.
Looks p. good.

I watched the leaked trailer though, it looked cool as hell even if it was shaky and not in focus. I'm excited for tomorrow.

Yup. Their face scan technology is on par with Valve's.
Looks terrible. Definitely won't be seeing it multiple times in theaters. Nope.

I got chills like crazy. It's going to be so good
Going to do that right now.
It's pretty much guaranteed that it's only going to get use from me for trailers, but still. I'm glad it exists for that
probably
I should finish Dead Space someday, though. Never got that far in it.
The alien queen animatronic puppet from the second one remains badass to this day

Yes! I really hope they stick to mostly practical effects.
