I had read people were having trouble getting the Poker Night at the Inventory achievement so I thought I should start on it now. Got it in the winning hand on the first tournament, beat Tycho in an All in with a full house that included 3 kings. I think I dodged a bullet there.

It was nerfed. Before it had to be a Three Kings win only. 4 Kings, full houses, would disqualify it.
Man... Skyrim. Still expensive, but it's at the price I paid for SR3 now...
Man. I'm really, REALLY torn, especially as I haven't really done any Christmas shopping for my family yet...
Planning on hitting up a gas station tonight or something?
I will probably buy online gifts. I want to get bigger ticket items for my folks (I'm still debating between a Kindle and a Prime membership), but for everyone else? No damned clue.
If you guys like circle-strafing, you hooks buy Hard Reset. It's short, but a great deal on a rock-solid retro shooter for five bucks.
Plus, it's gorgeous, especially in motion. Seriously. Crank it up to max settings and it looks like electric sex.
Retro as in Quake?
To a degree, yeah, it shares DNA with those old id shooters. It's a lot like Serious Sam and Painkiller, to give a more direct comparison.
Enemies SOAK up bullets, and you have tons of ammo. And your guns don't reload, so gameplay is "hold down fire while moving until everything is dead."
It's ultra simple, but the incredibly cool weapon customization system gives it a lot more variety than you might expect.
Oh, and it adds a ton of environmental destruction and hazards to use against your enemies. Exploding cars, red barrels, terminals you can shoot to generate electrical storms, etc.

Borderlands is the best shooter since Duke 3D and the best collectathon since Diablo. Everyone should have it.
Jamestown is the best shump on Steam and it's pretty newbie friendly. It's part of the current Humble Bundle which has a ton of awesome games so you should really get it there and then get the DLC cause the new ships are awesome.
Hey, if a Brit is willing to do some footwork to help me get Skyrim for $33, hit me up on Steam.

Many thanks to @JMan711 who has gifted me the nifty looking Capsized. I'm at my in-laws' place until tomorrow, but will happily redeem it when I get back home. Happy Steamsmas Eve to you as well, oh classy one.
@lolo what's your steam name? i want to add ya bud.
pretty sure its the same as here.
You have no idea how many times I've tried to gift you something, only to find that you already have it. Can you just, you know, "un-own" Company Of Heroes? Or Jamestown?

Even when you manage to send him something he doesn't have, someone else will have sent it first!

Blame PA, most of my library has been gifted to me. I'm not even exaggerating.

There's a decent bit of replay value in the Newgame+ feature and the survival arena if you like this kind of gameplay. Steam Scoreboards too, so you can chase your friends level scores and overall scores. There's also more levels on the way, both in the form of an expanded base game for new players and DLC for the previous owners. If those do well enough, I don't see any reason why they wouldn't keep adding "Episodes" like Doom did.
Also, I fucking love Hard Reset. It's a serious contender for my FPS of 2011. Smashing robots is glorious. The presentation is pitch perfect. It's like getting dropped into some awesome over the top euro action-cyberpunk graphic novel.
I think it's a bit more painkiller than quake, from what I've heard. Though, Painkiller WAS basically a love letter to quake, so...
Hard Reset's Rocket Launcher and Railgun will give you crazy flashbacks if you are a Quake II fan. I swear you'll think you'll hear the Gorillas shouting "STROGG."

Good. More people need to be starting out in Borderlands. Now I just need free time, or a clone to play Payday at the same time...

Probably 12 hands. Three Kings was getting a ton of complaints about it being supremely luck based then a few days later 12 hands was added.
You might want to get on that.

Wow, that's an awesome tip. I'll keep that in mind for January 2nd! ^^
you and me both, though Hulk: Ultimate Destruction was a better game

No problem, but take my friendship anyhow, yo!
Overall it's just completely insane on a production value level.

I also noticed he only has like 12 classy gents on his friend list. He needs more!
Why psychic? Because, just as the thought of trying Jamestown was being constructed in my brain, @AP0Dionysus gifts it to me. What a guy.

I'm so happy this game has gotten a decent daily.
