Easiest way to record video from TV to Macbook.

Okay so here's what I want...
- A way to record either live TV or TV recorded on a Comcast DVR box onto my Macbook Pro.
- I'd like to maintain the HD video quality I receive through my Cable box.
- I'd like to have the video in a relatively common video format. (avi, mp4, etc)

What I don't need...
- Streaming video. I use my PS3 to stream videos from my computer right now anyway. I don't need another product that essentially does the same thing. What I really need is more of a video capture device that will give me video from the TV that I can then save in easy to use formats and edit if needed. If a device works as a great video capture and also streams, that's fine too, but yeah the capture is what's more important to me.

What I have right now...
- Macbook Pro
- HDTV
- Motorola DVR/Cable box from Comcast.

So yeah, my cable box DVR is always filling up, and I'd like a way to digitally record those programs onto my computer hard drive, so I can delete them from the DVR. I'm just not sure at all how to best approach this.

I've seen some products like EyeTV HD and what all, but like I said, this is very new to me. So I'm really just trying to figure out what will help me do what I need to do in the best and easiest way.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

An EyeTV could almost certainly do it. We have an older non-HD model and it's great.
