Hey, maybe if you actually listened to your playerbase, then shit like this wouldn't happen.
Credit where credit is due: they did cave on 50 bracket and Expertise stacking. But man, this clusterfuck was documented before the patch launched.
Yes yes yes yes yes.
I've been prattling on about BW not heeding their test/playerbase's warnings since that infamous Ohlen quote from September when he basically said "testers can go fly a kite because we have our internal QA for bug/exploit finding... testers test our technical limits".
I hope they're learning but we'll see. They ignored warning about the Ilum exploit in their 1.1 Public Test so they haven't truly learned.
No, it stays consistently at about 1 quests worth of xp if you lose and 2 if you win.

You can totally do that, but you should still complete your class quest at least.
Buy as many champion bags as you can while leveling up and open them all at 50, hopefully you'll be decked out.

You can only buy one Champion bag at a time as they're unique. So the best thing to do is buy one bag, then save up all your commendations (while remembering the cap for each commendation is 1000).
A cool thing is on James Ohlen's g4 blog interview where he talked about the legacy stuff, he indicated that one of the legacy perks you could buy for an alt would make them gain more exp from pvp, for people who want to level an alt via that means.

So what types of item buffs stack and/or don't share cooldowns? Like, let's say I use the PvP Expertise boost(adrenal I think?) thingy--are there stims, adrenals , or anything else that can also be used to greater effect? Long-term versus short-term, etc...
I assume having the PvP consumables and the reusable ones at 50 basically allow 90 second CD mayhem to which I reply, "why not?" And the warzone expertise buff doesn't stack now right?
Just curious. Trying to get all of my keybinds figured out.
I heard someone raging in a huttball match the other day. He was complaining empire, especially sith sorc's, get all the best abilities and knockbacks/stuns/cc.
I went on to tell him that the classes were mirrored identically except for the names, graphics, and the moderate delay between Project and whatever the Inquisitor gets.
He called me an idiot, a liar, and a few other names I won't go into for defending the empire's greater characters.
I had to put him on ignore for hurting my faith in the republic.
As seen in the chat thread, patch 1.1.1 is hitting the PTR, with nerfs to Scoundrel/Operatives:
Acid Blade: Now provides 30% armor penetration while active. (Down from 50%)
Jarring Strike: This ability now knocks the target down for 1.5 seconds. (Down from 3 seconds)
Hidden Strike: The damage output of this ability has been decreased by approximately 20% to control burst damage and because it was enabling significantly faster than intended kills in PvP.
Also PvP related:
Fixed an issue that could prevent players from receiving mission rewards for completing Warzones.
This may seem like a stupid question but is Valor actually for? I know you get some after every match and I see i'll be at level such and such and think thats erm nice? All I can see is I got a title at point because of it. Is that it?

So i cancelled my sub today. (still decided to go for the 2nd month though to play an alt) I'm not seeing much of a reason to stick around for the PVP in TOR. The whole reason I play MMOs is to get gear then use that gear out in the world to farm stuff i need and pvp the enemy. Professions are easy to max the best stuff comes from doing HM flashpoints for a chance at the drop off the final boss. Flashpoints so conveniently connected to your local spaceport. No need to travel anywhere. Phew! There is little reason to farm stuff on any of the worlds when you can send your crew to get everything for you. Which means theres little reason at 50 to ever be roaming around outside the daily mission areas or illum's pvp pit. You can't even raid enemy player's outposts due to level 50 elite guards 3 shotting you. They've designed TOR in such a way that hopefully you'll never, ever run into an enemy player on any world outside of Illum's pvp lake. Which in turn makes the first 10 or so planets boring and pointless to roam around in. Maybe it's because I rolled Imperial and theres just not enough repubs around to get anything started with. But the game is deffinately desinged in such a way as to make encountering anyone from the opposing faction on any planet a rare event. Which sucks.

Yeah, that stuck out like a sore thumb to me. The areas are heavily segregated into obvious rep/imp areas, frequently with high-level guards to keep people away from the other faction.
On my first character it wasn't until Hoth that I saw my first imperial player, in the early 40s. On my second character I finally started seeing a handful of imps on Tatooine, in the Dune Sea which is, for once, a shared area.

It sounds like the same design as WAR except they forgot the PvP areas in between the 2 factions.
Republic deserves every bad thing that happens to them. If I knew where the rigorous scholarship guys lived in real life, I would gas their houses.
Well I know what guild I don't want to be a part of anymore. First it was 'fag' this, 'fag' that in guild chat. Good grief.
Is RC really like that? Worst we got in RS is people bitching about the game and then being told to go back to wow
I don't want to start drama or call anyone out, but I saw the word 'fag' and 'faggot' thrown around a lot, which bother me even if it's being used in jest. There were also a few other incidents of hateful language/attitudes that I don't really want to deal with in my guilds.
It's a moot point anyway because I'm not playing anymore for a variety of reasons, but there are some people in the guild (not going to name any names) that I do not want to be associated with.

Nope.
We've had awesome world PVP with the republic when it comes to world bosses. Far better than the Ilum stuff too.
With the frequency of the world boss spawns and the number of them, its something you can constantly do at peak times. Even at lower levels, operations form on both factions at the tatooine world boss and pvp almost always breaks out instead... usually ends in a 50 showing up to solo it though. I've done it a few times when people ask in guild.
Leveling alts I've started to run into republic players after level 30 pretty regularly.... just like WoW, my first open world pvp when leveling was a bit after level 30.
Also the daily quests are a place to find people on a regular basis.

Heh. I'm guessing your "Nope." is straight out refuting all the points i made. Right? Since you really addressed them in your below reply...
By segragating every single planet into, This half for republic , this half for Imperial they sure do encourage conflict betwen factions don't they? Just like how every flash point being connected to your fleet makes travelling around different planets happen a lot more. Even better all professions are deep and engaging and can't be finished simpily by running hardmodes while sending your crew to gather resources for you which definitely encourages you to run around on planets outside your fleet. right? The level 50 elite guards encourage raiding enemy outposts and bases too don't they? ...

I'm sure pvp does happen around world bosses but i wouldn't call that frequent and sitting around world bosses waiting for the enemy faction to attack it is fairly boring. While soloing one on your 50 is equally boring. Ganking people doing dailies can be done for sure, but really not what I'm looking for. The way mobs are setup it's just stupid. As an imperial player I can stand in a bunch of friendly elite imperial mobs and shoot ranged attacks at any nearby republic player. I that republic player DARES attack me the npcs around me will actually automatically aggro them. This works both ways and it's absolutely stupid and I want no part in it. Standing around waiting for some smuck to jump can be fun but since theres nothing stopping the player from respawning at their impenetrable base who cares. Honestly the pvp i enjoy is resource wars( locking down a route of resource nodes and fighting off any enemy whom dares interfere), raiding outposts/capital cities and conflict that drums up when i'm actually out doing something else, like travelling to an intsance on a planet or heading towards a mission. These things do not happen in swtor, whether it's designed that way or designed poorly in that no one has to bother. The world(s) in TOR are horribly empty of fun things to do after you've gotten to 50. The fun things pre 50 being class quest/missions. There are reasons people are playing alts and not their 50s.
is there a successful mmo that actually does that? I remember you could raid towns in vanilla wow but didn't they remove that?
They didn't really remove it, but it didn't have much incentive at a certain point. They still had zones where you'd run into the enemy faction though, or areas with particularly good resources that would be fought over (that plateau in Nagrand is a great one that comes to mind), or shared neutral quest areas (hello Blade's Edge dailies). If these sorts of things don't exist because of poor world design or excessive use of instancing, then there's really not much of a point in having PvP servers.
aahh. I quit wow before BC and the only place where I ever saw any open world pvp was southshore/tarren mill or whatever that was called until they did the instanced pvp. then strangletorn for the occasional gank
Right now in WoW there is an achievement that nets you a nifty mount if you kill all the enemy faction's leaders, by invading their capital cities. That was always a fun time.
I want to be able to invade the opposing faction's fleet station.

does that XP gain slow down or does it stay consistent?

so it's entirely possible once you are 10 to just be pure PVP and say fuck y'alls to questing and buy good loot with commendations
or is this not viable?
