Think I might have to reformat and I don't want to start completely over in Skyrim.
Save file locations vary widely depending on the game (and possibly OS). In the case of Skyrim, I believe the save files should be in your My Games folder (in Documents).
Is the "Steam Cloud" a way for me to backup my save games?
Steam cloud is a feature some (but not all) game use where they DO backup your saves to the Internet. In theory, they shoul just be there when you reinstall steam/your games, but I'd always suggest having a backup for yourself anyway. Plus, lots of games don't use Steam Cloud.

I'd like to get the Cheevo for Revenge of the titans legitimately, can someone give me some pointers? I got the first titan down, but i just don't know which towers to build and how to properly protect them/upgrade them.
What having the Cheevo for the 5th yeti but not 1-4 seems shady?

Would it be ok to skip AssCreed 1 and go straight to the second one? The little I played of the first one didn't leave me very interested in it but the setting in 2 sounds really fun on it's own...
Absolutely. The gameplay in the first one becomes a chore almost immediately. Thankfully they added 500% more fun to part 2. Just read a detailed plot summary for 1, and skip to playing 2.
I think it'd be more appropriate to say they added fun to 2. 1 was devoid of fun.
You're right. 500% of zero is still zero.

Good day, Steam thread. I wish I was not here to say good day, but work emergencies called me into the office. Hoorah for that on vacation!
Are we ready for another exciting day of deals? If I was a Steam employee planning the schedule of deals, I would be trending the deals upwards toward some exciting finale, like they do at 4th of July fireworks displays. Hope that's the case.
Edit: AssCreed 2 is wonderful, but I think AssCreed 1 is still fun because you are still a sweet assassin going beast mode on people.

I must be a sucker, then, because I think the ending off AssCreeOne is completely worth it, especially knowing you can then move straight on to 2.
The ending is cool. The story beats are cool. But the actual playing of the game, through each assassination and the sidemissions you must/can play to get to them, often feels like a chore.

I kinda don't like the implication that I bought a game to get one more piece of coal :P

Whelp. I checked the ol' "Steam Wallet" last night and almost had a heart attack. Sadly there'll be no more Steam sale for me this year.
I think I made out pretty well though. I gifted more than I bought for myself, and it was all done super sneaky-like. And I'd like to say thanks to all the good folks who have been giving out gifts like mad and running Steamgifts contests; you guys are awesome!
Hopefully there'll be more Gift Pile achievements for games I already own.

Think of it less "buying the game to get a piece of coal" and more "I want to properly enjoy this game when I have the time, and I will, but I can do this thing real quick now for some benefit and a potential prize so I might as well."

Oh, the plot, acting, and ending we're all great. It's just all the actual gameplay that sucked.
I did enjoy the combat, but it got tiring for most people, I think.
Did you play on PC or 360? I grinded for achievements on the Xbox, back when I was really into that stuff. Now that was brutal.
I played on the 360, and yeah, those collecting quests were brutal. I got most of them, but finally gave up. I almost didn't play AC2, but the folks on here were raving about how it was actually fun.

Oof. I think the ideal way to play AC1 now is to basically rush through the game. Don't do any sidequests, don't collect any flags, don't do any more intelligence-gathering than you have to. I think the very core gameplay is fun and the story is interesting and important to the sequels.

Good advice. If you play it, just pretend you're doing a speed run. All the side shit will just wear you down and break you. It's SO tedious.

So guys, I think I may have a bit of a problem. I picked up Sequence yesterday because it was literally cheaper than a cup of coffee and figured the cheevo seemed pretty easy to get. I started it up last night right before I was going to go to bed, and then suddenly it was 3am and I had to be up at 7 for work. I really don't know what happened. I'm really not a fan of rhythm games. And I pretty much only listen to punk. But I just couldn't stop playing it.
It's surprisingly engaging. You have to pay attention to three different windows (one for refilling your mana so you can case spells, one for casting spells to either damage your opponent or heal yourself, and one to defend your HPs). So you have to constantly prioritize which one is more important and switch between them. The music (at least so far) isn't so in-your-face electronica that it's annoying. On the contrary, I've actually replayed a few of the songs for no other reason than to listen to them again. And the dialogue is genuinely funny. I found myself on multiple occasions forcefully stopping myself from laughing so that I didn't wake my son up in the next room. Very tongue-in-cheek. Very sarcastic. Very self-aware.
I was so surprised with how much I enjoyed this game that the first thing I did this morning was write a recommendation for it. This game is way more fun than it has any right to be. And if it comes back during the best-of (unfortunately I'd be surprised if it does), you should all buy it. Even if it doesn't, it's only $2.50 right now.
I also played Rise of Immortals for the cheevo. It was my first time playing a DotA type game and it's the only free-to-play game that didn't get uninstalled as soon as I got the cheevo. I had alot of fun in the hour and change I played it. And I'll definitely be going back to it. Is it a good representation of what games like LoL and DotA(2) are like? If so, I may have just found another genre I need to pay more attention to.
I wish PAYDAY had just a tiiiiny bit of the brink parkour. I see the cops do all this crazy shit. Meanwhile I'm flailing to jump over a velvet rope in the bank.
captaink knows the score, AC1 is a great game if you just do the bare minimum
I used to do as many side missions as possible, i found them fun.
first time I played it I did everything apart from flags, I've played it a couple of times since and it's pretty tedious for me to do all the side missions again. Still, I would recommend everybody plays it before playing AC2, it was one of my favourite games when it came out

I'd love the ability to just dive towards cover, if nothing else.
On the flip side, I love when cops try to slide under garage doors... Right into my shotgun.

Yes, but only if the game supports Steam Cloud. There are a good chunk of games that do use it, but there are probably even more that don't. And there are some games that don't use it to its full potential. Modern Warfare 2 and 3, for example, uses Cloud only for the multiplayer stuff. It does not back up single player saves.
There's even a game in my collection (The Binding of Isaac) that I saw recently got a Steam Cloud icon next to its name in my list, but it very clearly does not use cloud yet.

Speaking of Payday and playing games, now that we have our Steam libraries nice and plump, I suppose we ought to start...I don't know, actually playing them? I suspect there will be a lot of matchmaking going on in January.

But yeah, being able to slide across desks, and dive to cover would be a cool addition.
A few hours late because I never launched my browser last night, but many thanks to Sutibun for his gift last night. An individual of class and taste if I've ever seen one.
Origin is the exact same as my Steam, in case you're needing a Support or Assault in BF3.
Also the horse riding is a bit more restricted in AC2 than in the first, where you had big open areas to gallop around in.
I prefer to think of it as more focused. But yeah. Personally I though AC1 just had too much fuckaround room between cities. I liked the slightly more linear progression in AC2 much better.

If I had to do it, so do you. If you don't you'll completely miss out on the sub plot, which becomes the Actual plot.
Just don't try to 100% it and you'll be fine.

Yeah but the horse riding in AC1 inexplicably pissed off the guards who would chase you around and the whole thing was annoying.
Unless you like that sort of thing.
