Also the horse riding is a bit more restricted in AC2 than in the first, where you had big open areas to gallop around in.
Yeah but the horse riding in AC1 inexplicably pissed off the guards who would chase you around and the whole thing was annoying.
Unless you like that sort of thing.
I loved that. Especially riding toward some guards who were turned the other way and jumping off my horse and performing a takedown with the hidden knives. Its entirely possible I imagined this though.

Causing a riot in a small village was the best with the horse.
I must be a sucker, then, because I think the ending off AssCreeOne is completely worth it, especially knowing you can then move straight on to 2.
Oh, the plot, acting, and ending we're all great. It's just all the actual gameplay that sucked.
I did enjoy the combat, but it got tiring for most people, I think.
What was wrong with the gameplay? I don't remember having any issues with it (on 360)
Everything felt a lot stiffer than in AC2, but my main issue was just how it was an incredibly rigid set of 4 mission types that it cycled through, culminating in a (usually fun/interesting) assassination. Rinse, repeat for the entire game. Mix it up by chasing down 500 flags for no reason.
I loved the characters and the story, but the gameplay was the very definition of repetitive.
Everything looks beautiful when you're young and pretty
1) I never played Crysis, but a lot of people told me that the actual game wasn't that great, but that it was exceptionally pretty (cue "Can it run Crysis?" joke). True? False?
2) I'm leaning towards Dead Space, as I love that franchise more than AssCreed. At this point, it's whether I liked the first or second one better, and for some reason, I'm having trouble remembering, haha.
So guys, I think I may have a bit of a problem. I picked up Sequence yesterday because it was literally cheaper than a cup of coffee and figured the cheevo seemed pretty easy to get. I started it up last night right before I was going to go to bed, and then suddenly it was 3am and I had to be up at 7 for work. I really don't know what happened. I'm really not a fan of rhythm games. And I pretty much only listen to punk. But I just couldn't stop playing it.
It's surprisingly engaging. You have to pay attention to three different windows (one for refilling your mana so you can case spells, one for casting spells to either damage your opponent or heal yourself, and one to defend your HPs). So you have to constantly prioritize which one is more important and switch between them. The music (at least so far) isn't so in-your-face electronica that it's annoying. On the contrary, I've actually replayed a few of the songs for no other reason than to listen to them again. And the dialogue is genuinely funny. I found myself on multiple occasions forcefully stopping myself from laughing so that I didn't wake my son up in the next room. Very tongue-in-cheek. Very sarcastic. Very self-aware.
I was so surprised with how much I enjoyed this game that the first thing I did this morning was write a recommendation for it. This game is way more fun than it has any right to be. And if it comes back during the best-of (unfortunately I'd be surprised if it does), you should all buy it. Even if it doesn't, it's only $2.50 right now.
I also played Rise of Immortals for the cheevo. It was my first time playing a DotA type game and it's the only free-to-play game that didn't get uninstalled as soon as I got the cheevo. I had alot of fun in the hour and change I played it. And I'll definitely be going back to it. Is it a good representation of what games like LoL and DotA(2) are like? If so, I may have just found another genre I need to pay more attention to.
Rise of the immortals does give a decent picture of the genre. But its kinda like comparing a mcdonalds hamburger to something better. LoL is also free to play and in my opinion is setup better for new players than roi/hon.
1) I never played Crysis, but a lot of people told me that the actual game wasn't that great, but that it was exceptionally pretty (cue "Can it run Crysis?" joke). True? False?
I would say false. I found it to be an exceptionally well made shooter, with an unexpectedly versatile tactical edge to it.

I think the more commonly accepted description of Crysis is that you need to play it like a Predator simulator. Turn down the difficulty. Mod the nanosuit power up. And run around trying to kill Koreans in the most imaginative ways possible. Bonus points for killing Koreans with other Koreans.

I've just heard about it for years, and wanted to experience it for myself now that I have a good PC. I'll gladly pay $3.75/game for the package (not including that multiplayer thingie)

All of the sudden, I'm in the mood to ditch my backlog and waste my hours playing Civ V, starting New Game+ on Dark Souls, and replaying one of the Dead Space games. I rarely replay games after I've beaten them, nor do I start New Game+ on anything. What is going on with me?! My backlog is swelling, this needs to stop!

I think it may have jumped up to the very top of mine. I think I may have to finish it before I can get back to Metro 2033. Which is an incredibly odd sensation. I don't really know how I want to feel about that.

That's coincidental. That's exactly what I'm playing right now too. My save file corrupted last night and I had to start a section over, losing an hour's worth of progress.
More Amazon deals today, all EA stuff. I don't think any of it is Steamworks.
None of the EA games are Steamworks, but if you're not allergic to Origin you can enter codes from EA games bought elsewhere into Origin if you prefer having your EA games all in one place.

If I activate Amazon bought games on Origin, I can still download them and play them independent of Origin, correct?

I think I'm done trying to get this Revenge of the Titans achievement. Futzing around with other people's saves has gotten me every holiday achievement except the one that matters, and the game annoys me too much to try to earn it myself. It can hardly be called tower defense, it's more like zerg rush the video game.

Whelp. I checked the ol' "Steam Wallet" last night and almost had a heart attack. Sadly there'll be no more Steam sale for me this year.
I think I made out pretty well though. I gifted more than I bought for myself, and it was all done super sneaky-like.
Hopefully there'll be more Gift Pile achievements for games I already own.
In this case, is "Steam Wallet" a euphemism for your bank account?
Because that's how it is for me.
Not quite...
Garry: I know you gentlemen have been through a lot, but when you find the time I'd rather not spend the rest of the winter TIED TO THIS FUCKING COUCH!

Depends on if it needs origin to run or not (I guess we should call this 'originworks'?). Battlefield 3 will fire up Origin when you launch it, most games won't.

The next category down is "Late-breaking deals" which often has some good stuff, especially if you miss a Steam daily.
If it helps sway you, the PC version of AssCreed 2 includes all the DLC for the console versions.

$7.49 for Crysis and Crysis Warhead? Fuck me. These sales are killing me. Looks like I'll be pulling out the CC again.

Not going to play this so go ahead and enter so I can give it to one of you!
Get yourself a 360 controller for your PC. Jamestown, specifically since you mentioned it, controls wonderfully with the 360 pad.
Buy a wired 360 controller. Best $40 I ever spent on accessories.
Ps3 controllers plug in with a little extra love, too.
