Awesome! I was upset that I missed the Arkham City deal. Now I can pick that up. And I have an extra day to decide on L.A. Noire and figure out how to pay for it.
Alright, last day of sales. After seeing what the free to play Super Monday Night Combat looks like, I'm definitely thinking of picking up the original. There's still some people who still play it, right?
And Orcs must die stuff being on sale must be the universe telling me to buy the dlc since I got the game for free from the gift pile.
AssRev AND serious Sam 3!? Yeah, expensive day
Actually should I get AssBro over AssRev? Too many asses?
If you haven't played either yet... AssBro has a better setting and story. AssRev is fun in it's own right, but the setting isn't for everyone.
but what if I've played AC2?
AssBro got stuck with that "Multiplayer based expansion" image, huh?
Naw, it's a pretty great sequel to AC2. It's set in one city - Rome, but Rome is bigger than all of AC2's districts combined.
AssRev is further distinct from AC2, but I think the story is weak, and personally - I'm not a fan of the Constantinople setting. All dirt and orange as opposed to Rome's white and red. But hey, you might love it!
Ultimately, the best way to look at it is; do you want more AC2 or a new thing?

Man, when I missed the daily on Sonic I was pretty convinced it would be on the recap day. My face right now is not the happiest looking it has ever been.
I enjoyed AssBro more than AssRev, to be honest. I liked both settings but the characters in AssBro were more engaging and I found the story more interesting overall. The action is very similar and I enjoyed that equally in both - the few improvements they made in AssRev over AssBro keep it somewhat fresh. I played AssBro twice to full sync. I can't really see myself playing through AssRev again, to be honest. Not because it's bad but because it just didn't engage me as much as AssBro. It also felt a lot shorter. I got 100% sync in 24 hours. AssBro took me at least 10 hours longer.
Anyway, the bottom line is that you should definitely not skip AC2. Even if AssBro sucked compared to AssRev, I would tell you not to skip it.
Recap day is a toughie. There's a few things I could go for but I kinda splurged on this whole sale already. On the plus side, I managed to pull it to a 60/40 ratio of gifting to others vs. me stuff. In my head, that sort of justification might push me over for one last "me" gift.
Anyhow, last time I'll post this, deadline to enter is now about 3.5 hours or whenever I finish family brunch/food coma. :P
Elderlycrawfish's New Vegas Giveaway Extravaganza!
Hey Steam Thread. Not gonna mince too many words here, but I would like to give one of you scamps a copy of Fallout: New Vegas, with all the DLC included. That's right, the full package, even Courier's Stash.
So here's what I'm thinking. If you want in, PM me before noon (my time) on January 1, 2012. (That's a very loose deadline, as consciousness on New Years Day will be a notable variable on my part) What do I want in that PM? It's this:
I want to know what you think would be the greatest horror to survive into the post-apocalyptic future. Will it be the Holy Church of Kardashian? Cyber-Palin, stalking hapless travelers in Alaska? Maybe it's the radio station that's eternally looping Rebecca Black's "Friday". Whatever it is, send it via PM. Write it down, send a picture, youtube, sloppy slashfic, whatever.
I'll whittle the list down to the top 3 choices that make me guffaw, and then flip a 3-sided coin to pick the ultimate winner (ok, RNG. It was a really awesome coin though).
Entrants should be members of the PA community; I'll do forum snooping to see that you aren't just begging for games and all that goosery.
So if you're on the fence about buying it but are totally cool with trying to win a copy, enter today!
Got a couple more entries last night, pushing it up to an even dozen. Entries have been good, it's going to be tough to top 3 this. If you still want to snag a copy, there's still time to enter!

Yeah, I enjoyed AssRev, but probably enjoyed it the least of all the games. Including the first game! I've heard the multiplayer is improved from AssBro, but I only played a game or two of it and decided I wasn't in the mood for it at the time.
I'm safe from the encore day. I either bought everything when it was on previous dailies, own it, or have zero interest because it's too expensive or just not interested. Except for Serious Sam 3. And Assassin's Creed 2/Brotherhood. And LA Noire.

Still contemplating Rochard from yesterday. About to queue up a Giant Bomb quick look of it, maybe try the demo, etc.
I highly recommend L.A. Noire! But I got that for my PS3, so hum...
AssBro? I'm so undecided, I guess I don't need it at that price though, if I look at my backlog.

So are there definitely no more new dailies coming?
And... can I get an extremely classy fellow to hook me up with Street Fighter IV AE? I can pay you back with future money using slow time travel. That is to say, on the 20th.
Alternate payment option; I will record my face while attempting to No Death run Cotton Alley in Super Meat Boy.
At least one more round of thanks are in order from me before the sale is done. First, to @Antihippy for surprise-gifting me Bully: Scholarship Edition. This is a game I've always thought looked really unique and interesting but which I've never played, so I'm looking forward to experimenting with it. Following close on the heels came a copy of Psychonauts from @Vegan ...a game I know even less about but which I know has a loving and loyal following. Thanks for ensuring my gamebank doesn't go without further embiggening even though there's nothing to interest me on the best-of day, guys.
In other news, the Newell Year's Resolutions contest is now closed. Will be judging the entries and picking my three winners shorrtly.
I made it through this sale with a pretty light load. I think I have finally realized I have plenty of games banked, so that has helped me. Everything on my wishlist is more of a "I want it for free" wish, so winning the 10 wishlist items would be neat, but not a huge deal.
I guess I'm getting Arkham City, I'd like the DLC, but since it's only challenge map stuff and those didn't interest me much with Asylum, I guess I'm not missing anything?
What are some deals that were never daily deals but shouldnt have been overlooked? I feel like there are some good games I might be missing out on because I onyl worried about the dailies.

To the nine hells with it. Picked up Shogun 2, all the DLC, and Medieval II for $16.50.
Garry: I know you gentlemen have been through a lot, but when you find the time I'd rather not spend the rest of the winter TIED TO THIS FUCKING COUCH!

Now to decide if i want to spend my free $20 on Arkham City, on something else, or just wait until Arkham drops in price
As i haven't gotten Rev yet I can't say which is better but I will say that Brotherhood is an amazing game and shouldn't be missed.
Was hoping Payday would have gotten a second deal so more of my friends would be tempted to pick it up. Such a fun game.

Sigh, oh well.
Skipping AssBro and jumping right into AssRev seems like a bad idea to me, especially if you're going for the single player experience.
Yeah, it would be like watching A New Hope and then jumping to Return of the Jedi. You could do it, but I wouldn't recommend it.
I was going to use Phantom Menace and Revenge of the Sith as my example, but I wouldn't recommend watching any of those anyway.
Anyway, the bottom line is that you should definitely not skip AC2. Even if AssBro sucked compared to AssRev, I would tell you not to skip it.
