And now my credit card is no longer associated with my account. I'm free!
...until next year...

I'm safe today too.
Not because there's nothing I want, but because I have a grand total of 63 cents in my wallet. I mean, I want skyrim and dead island, but oh well. Next big sale!
Safe for the same reason. Just burned wallet remains on small gifts. We will see what the new Steam year provides. Time for some "rest" at work.
L4D2 might be a good choice, as we know quite a few people who play it, and she loves zombies... but she's not much of a competitive or shooter type of player. Thanks for the suggestion!
The way to a woman's heart is through co-op. Or Lego games.
I guess I'm getting Arkham City, I'd like the DLC, but since it's only challenge map stuff and those didn't interest me much with Asylum, I guess I'm not missing anything?
Hey folks, how's Magicka? Worth buying? Not sure I'll know anyone else playing it, is it worth it just to play by myself/with random folks?

it's been fun! it's been pretty hard keeping my ratio of gifts sent to gifts received fairly equal, you guys are a classy bunch! I think I ended up somewhere near 1:1 though
as I type this @Handgimp has just gifted me Dark Messiah of Might & Magic and Might & Magic Clash of Heroes! thanks mate!

Actually, I just remembered how big the backlog is.
And while it would be nice to punch mans, there are only 5 people on my friends list that already have SFIV AE.
I guess I can wait. Hmph.
The offer of a Face Cam'd Lets Play of Cotton Alley in exchange for SFIV AE still stands!
Magicka is fun and cheap + a ton of us own it so there will definitely be people you can convince into sparking it up.
Oh also it goes on sale almost every other month, so don't feel pressured it pick up all the DLC or something. There will be time to play it and decide if you like it and then pick up additional DLC.
Ok, I'm ending the contest before someone comes and puts a monkey wrench in it by tieing the voting again:) Was close but Entry #1 gets it. One voter actually had a good point that it will scale better in the friends list:) Thanks to all the entrants and happy New Years to all.

Try the demo first. It's notoriously poorly optimized so it can take some rigs that should easily run and make you think you're playing it on a 10 year old machine.
I got this from the Great Gift Pile and I'm passing it on to anyone who has an interest. I might've been spited by the pile, I'm not quite sure. Buuuuut if anyone wants a go at it, enter!

My i7 3.4 two 6850s and 16gigs of ram agree with you.
Star Man has outclassed my gift of the Oddbox by sending me AssCreedBro in return. Holy uneven reciprocation, Batman! My monocle just shattered in awe.
I assume the blue vouchers will only start working after the sale ends even though they just read 2nd January? If they were to stack with some of the last day sale offers for a few hours there might be a couple of things I'm tempted by (e.g. 50% off of 75% off Portal 1/2 would be worth it to add to the gift bank).
Otherwise I think I'll just pick up AC2 and I'm done for the sales. Maybe it's just that I've been through a few before or that the competition was putting on a better show but I find myself less impressed with this year's sale than past ones. Nothing has really stood out for me on Steam, deal of the season was Arkham City over on Green Man Gaming for half the price Steam put it up for and I've put as much into GoG as Steam this year.
I preferred the big gift packs and the vouchers for DLC schemes of past sales over this year's coal and useless discount vouchers thing.
it looks like todays dealies are only running 24 hours, so I doubt it. If they were 27 hour dealies you might have a 3 hour window. looks like coupons will activate and sale will end when steams 'day' turns over.

Whelp, I was hoping one of the Daily Sales might send Dragon Age down to 75% off, but instead they are doing repeats of previous days sales.
Should I just get it today for 50% off? Or is there another Sale blowout tomorrow?
I got the Ultimate Edition on Impulse for $25 a little over a year ago.

Lots of good entries, some humorous, some thoughtful, but there could only be three winners. The third-place prize, worth $5 in the Steam store, goes to @SvK for this amusing and oh-so-rational strategy for managing his Steam addiction.
Don't allow my backlog to grow . . . in value. If I beat Psychonauts ($10) and F.E.A.R. ($10), I can buy Assassin's Creed 2 ($20). If I beat Modern Warfare 2 ($30) I can replace it with the Sega Genesis Classics Collection, also $30. No cheating by using regular price for a game I bought on sale.
The second prize, worth $10, goes to @chocobolicious for his creative scheme for motivating himself to make a dent in his gamebank.
New years... thing!
I plan to actually, you know, work on my gamebank! But how you say? Such a bank it is! Forsooth, you are correct good sir. It is a massive beast. To facilitate dealing with such a monster (and not just leaving Steam minimized to hide from my shame.) I plan to make posters. Yes, posters. I am going to take some screencaps of my steam quilt and drag that badboy to Kinko's. Blow it up some odd 20x, and staple it to the god damn wall. I have a very big wall emptied off just for such a purpose.
If that doesn't motivate me to knock off at least forty or fifty games this year, I'll be banning myself from the winter sale next year because god damn I'd be a right **** at that point.
And finally, the grand prize winner is @I needed a name to post. How could I fail to be impressed by this kind of maniacal passion directed against a thing one hates?
My New Year's Steam resolution is to start up several gaming review websites that review PC games, and over the course of the year have each gain legitimacy and eventually post up a favourable Bad Rats review, gradually moving the metascore up. From there I will puppetmaster hundreds of accounts over multiple forums opening debates about Bad Rats and speaking about its revolutionary satirical presentation, arguing with one another but creating an undertone that will permeate the unconscious of the reader, eventually recasting it in the eyes of all as a brilliant postmodern statement on video games.
This will be done so that Duke Nukem Forever becomes the official Steam Spite Gift.
Because fuck DNF.
So there you have it, folks. Three servants of the Newell, three conscientious and commendable resolutions. Winners should contact me by PM to pick their prizes. Note that you have the option of picking multiple prizes adding up to your total prize value, or of choosing to defer claiming your prize until a later date.
I am disappointed that Sins of a Solar Empire wasn't a daily deal.
I might have sprung for it -- I picked up the original on Impulse a long time ago, and the expansions by themselves are still kinda expensive. I've actually been trying to get back into it lately, but the text gives me headaches and the only font mod I've found randomly breaks various UI elements.

Not goin to get cheaper on Steam. Maybe elsewhere if you don't mind non steam copies.

Wow, that's some giveaway. I own both, but that's pretty awesome man.
I had to do it on my phone, and messed up the end time. Oh well.

ASSCREED 1 free after coupon at Amazon. doesn't steam activate, but it's free. They've been passing out these coupons like candy for a couple months, but here's a couple for anyone who's missed them:

Thanks, I used the middle one.
