So I'm making a sampler afghan right now. And it has 14 motifs in three colors and then scattered. I'm trying to decide if I want to stick with that or be crazy and do a fourth color and instead of a scatter pattern do blocks of all four.

I have a whole bunch of yarn I feel would look reasonable together, so my plan for it (someday, someday) is to make it all into 4-round granny squares, shove them into a bag, mix them up as best I can, and then just start pulling them out at random and sewing them into rows... and then sewing the rows together as I go. No planning, no way to know what the next row will look like when you sew on the current one, just seeing what comes out.

i like my littel 4ply baby acrylic. it's useful, it's soft, it has a pleasant tactile something to it.
I am hating this 8ply acrylic that i'm making this blanket out of. But I really really wanted to actually follow the pattern. and I think that this blanket will look great.
And it's just one of the yarns that I'm struggling with, the one that does the border for the squares. It's just being so very very.... scratchy, resistant. It's not sliding as nicely along my fingers as the main color is.
I'm so jealous of people who can knit with "mammal fibers" (wool, angora, mohair, cashmere, etc.) and synthetics.
They retain their shape so much better than plant fibers & silk. You can get all sorts of awesome super-bulky yarns. And from what I've seen they're generally cheaper too.
So in preparation for moving next weekend, I've been going through a lot of old things and seeing if I should throw anything out or not. I just happened across my favorite "book" that I made when I was little. I was SO INTO making little books back then. This was an interactive book and I was very proud of it. Spoiler'd for handful of images:
"The Book of Princess Weirdo"
(I was always told to date things so in the future I knew when I made something)
"Once upon a time, there was a princess named Princess Weirdo. Her hair was messed up, frizzy, and tangled. Princess Weirdo did not like her hair."
"She had an idea. She went to the store and bought a shampo. Pantine Pro V. She fluffed, washed, and Eewwed." (there used to be a little tag at the top that you would push to the left and shampoo would come out of the bottle).
"The next day she woke up and Looked into her mirror. A peice of her hair somehow stuck out on one side. I must do something! She thought." (Tag is of her reflection in the mirror)
(after tag is moved to show her face)
"Yes! I'll die my hair! She thought. And, instead of grabing the black, she accedently took the blue. And since her hair was already yellow, when she poured on the blue, it made" (next page says, in green ink, "her hair GREEN!!!" ...the tag here gets pushed down and shows her hair turning green from blonde.)
"So, she decided to cut it. Hair flew EVERYWHERE." (you were supposed to move the tag around wildly to show hair going everywhere)
"And geuss what. She cut it all... (Push the arrow down)"
"off!"
Back cover - "Moral: Stay with what you have."
I think I meant more "be happy with what you have" seeing how I was a little girl with frizzy hair.

The darker pink matches better but makes the whole thing feel a bit, well, darker. So I think I like the bright pink better because it still looks nice and it brightens the whole thing up.

I like the dusky pink better, but full disclosure: that light pink is one of my least favorite colors ever so that might have something to do with it.

Darker pink.
Looks like it's a closer texture as well. Is it the same material? Dark pink looks like cotton while light pink looks like acrylic, and the blue/cream looks like cotton as well. I'd stick with the same material throughout.

The part that's done looks really good btw.
Meanwhile I'm doing my first "project on request" and it's framing me out a little. I think it's going all right, just the idea that I'm going to sell this thing is making me really self conscious.

The dark pink looks like acrylic to me, in fact I know it is because I have a skein of that same type in a gray (that I never use because I pretty much only use cotton yarn). I think all three are acrylics, though if there is a place that sells 100% cotton yarn in skeins that big for affordable prices I want to go there.
The lighter pink does look like a thinner yarn though, probably still worsted but some worsted runs thin (like caron simply soft).

I hope this means that every time someone says "yam" in the food thread you see "yarn"!

I'm also sad that your 9 year old hand writing is far far better than mine ever was or still is.
Is this a good place to look for a hired plushy maker? I need a pokemon made.

Here are the ends cut out! I made the skewer shafts too, but didn't get to connect them before I had to leave.
