The dark pink looks like acrylic to me, in fact I know it is because I have a skein of that same type in a gray (that I never use because I pretty much only use cotton yarn). I think all three are acrylics, though if there is a place that sells 100% cotton yarn in skeins that big for affordable prices I want to go there.
The lighter pink does look like a thinner yarn though, probably still worsted but some worsted runs thin (like caron simply soft).
The light pink is actually Red Heart Super Saver (though surprisingly soft for that yarn)
They're all approximately the same heaviness, close enough to use them in the same piece

Okay so I've gone with the dusty rose so far and I think it's awful pretty. Only problem is I made it a bit too wide so I'm going to have to do like a million rows...
Still deciding if I should alternate with the lighter pink.

I vote alternate
And it seems like all is dying, and would leave the world to mourn
Oooh that's the serger that's been on my wishlist for ages! Some day...maybe when I've worked through a bit of my yarn stash
In the meantime here's a sweater in progress:

Have I mentioned I hate knitting sleeves? Because oh god they're so boring
Hey, I think I have that same pattern. Is it from Interweave Knits magazine? I love that mag. Also, love the yarn color you chose. And I agree that sleeves can be boring if they don't have something fancy going on, but at least stockinette is fast to do, eh?

So it's not quiiiiite how I imagined it so far
But the light pink is the middle section, now I'll just repeat the bottom half in reverse.

I don't know if she published in in Interweave! I got it off Rav, it's the Yellow Brick Road cardi by Ela Torres
And it's technically finished? I've just been too lazy to put the buttons on and I got distracted by trying to finish my Julissa pullover!!!
@Sheri
That looks really good! The pale pink being in the middle lets it cover a lot of ground without being oh god so much pink, because that edging is pretty substantial
but it is simply Too Expensive. especially since i'm now leaning towards 2 twin (-ish) duvets so that we will no longer war over blankets. so i decided i am going to make duvet covers myself (sometutes), and some wool duvets to fill said cases. today i picked up 5 yards of this at one of my local fabric shops, and, over the next howsomeever days, will be trying to decide what i want the reverse to be. omg and tempting, but i lust for this print:
but i don't have the Google-fu to find a dupe. i decided that i want my bedroom to have Deus Ex design influences (just a few -- for now), so i am getting all kinds of crafty with this shit

Work in progress pictures of my new project. I spent a portion of my last GI bill check buying the Ascension Deckbuilding game and all the expansions.
On my regular trip to Michaels I saw that they had a lot of boxes shaped like books, some as big as 15x12, and all on 50% clearance. I'm taking inspiration from the full name of the game (Ascension: Chronicles of the Godslayer) to make a box big enough to hold the entire collection. I got a couple of them so I'm considering converting one of the book boxes so that it opens up into a gameboard.
Edit: Changed pictures to thumbnails, didn't realize how big they were just using my phone.
Recently borrowed my mom's sewing machine... first project to get my sewing legs back was to hem some jeans.
Never done it before and was a little nervous, instead of just folding under and sewing I tried out a tutorial on how to hem jeans while keeping the original finished hem so that it doesn't look odd.
Happily it really worked out well! Whether my stitches are strong enough to withstand wear and wash remains to be seen, but it'll be easy enough to redo if they come out. I do really need to learn more about different threads and tensions for different fabrics though.
My grandmother recently passed away and I've been given her clothes - all 12 giant trashbags full of them. Been slowly going through, picking out pieces that I think I can alter/re-purpose to suit my age, so I'm really excited to have the sewing machine.

Hemming jeans is a real bitch if you don't have a nice beastly sewing machine. Trying to push a needle through all the layers of folded denim where the leg seams meet the hem is a literal killer for smaller cheaper machines, and it's hard to keep your shit straight too.
I broke many a needle trying to hem jeans before I upgraded my machine and was shown the error of my ways

Elna made a machine way back when called the SU.
My Mum uses hers to make quilted canvas horse rugs.
It does not stop for anything, not even sewing on leather straps.
They also have this neat little cam gear mechanism where they do decorative stitches with the needle guided by these little interchangeable bakelite cam wheels.
yeah I've made the mistake of trying to sew too many layers or too tough a fabric before on a machine that really wasn't up to it. Luckily my mom's machine is a bit of tank - literally called a Jeans Machine, hah! It balked at the side hems a bit, but I lifted the foot up and went real slow over them and it managed it. I think in the future though I'll probably skip over the side hems and just add a few stitches on them by hand afterwards.
I was definitely concerned about getting a straight hem, but the tutorial actually said to use a zipper foot instead of a normal one, and I'll be damned if it didn't do the straightest stitch I've ever managed.
Wife made cupcakes for niece's bday. She wanted butterfly ones, so she got pretzels and crunched up Jolly Ranchers and baked them so they'd melt, and make used a gummy worm for the butterfly's body.

I made a thing!
It was one of those paint-along classes, and it was fun! And... now I might go buy paint and brushes. I mean I've got this canvas just sitting around...
