Ok, H/A, I've been wowed time and time again by your ability to pull information out of the hat that is the internet (Like the time
I couldn't sleep until I remembered a Tycho phrase, or the time you helped me
find a set of silverware I'd been looking for for 3 years).
I've been having problems with my iPhone 4 receiving or sending MMS's for about 20 months--basically, since about 3 months after I jailbroke it. I rarely use them, and it's basically the only problem I have with the phone, so I haven't done much on it. It dawned on me the other day as I was trying to attach a contact in a text (didn't work) that a possible reason I'm having this problem is that my baseband (modem software) is at the original 1.59.00 from when the phone came out. So, with the 5.0.1 Jailbreak having just dropped, I thought this would be a perfect time to restore to original factory software, then Jailbreak it fresh.
However, every time I try to restore it with stock firmware, iTunes errors out and leaves the phone in DFU mode. I've been able to restore it with my PwnageTool-built .IPSW's, but not with anything stock from apple. Any thoughts would be most appreciated.
EDIT: Whoops, I forgot that I'd modified my Hosts file so that my SHSH blobs would authenticate through Cydia, not Apple. Commented out that line in the hosts file, and all is well. Sorry to waste your time, H/A. Perhaps my blunder will be useful to someone else in the future, though.
