Flush sucks unless you have an bunch of snipers with opportunist that aren't taking active shots.
Disagree. Once you have plasma weapons, it can do 3 damage with like a +15 aim. If you need that last little bit of damage to finish off a dude, it can be clutch -- and every once in a while, it can help move a Sectopod out into your sniper's line of fire.
Grenades are great under the following circumstances:
1. Not a sniper
2. You're not trying to capture aliens
3. You have Grenadier or Deep Pockets
4. You don't need the space for a Medkit
5. You aren't a psychic.
6. You don't have, like, three heavies in the squad.
Grenades are awesome, but honestly five damage is crap in the later game. Still, blowing out walls or cover is amazing and makes everything else better. I just prefer to do it with rockets, for the better aoe, range, and damage.
I've used flush to chase enemies out of offensive positions
It's got utility beyond setting up for kills

I use grenades to get Squaddie snipers kills so they can get promoted and get Squadsight and stop being useless. I also appreciate that their damage is static, so I always know exactly how hard I'm going to hit an alien, which can be pretty useful for setting up captures.
And while I hate it when a Flushed enemy runs into even better cover, I appreciate the +Aim it provides; I often use it to finish off a wounded enemy.

Grenades are vital early game though, especially for leveling up your sniper.
