Weird DualShock 3/PS3 controller issue.

I haven't used my PS3 in a few weeks.

Now, my PS3 controller won't turn on without the USB wire plugged in. I thought that maybe the battery died, but if the controller is plugged in, after a few seconds (if I hold the PS button), it says charge complete.

So I'm stumped.

The controller seems to work fine plugged in, and the charge seems fine, but as soon as I unplug it, it loses it's connection with the PS3 and it won't respond to anything. I know the PS button works because it works while plugged in.

Any ideas?

How long have you had the controller? Sounds like the battery just isn't holding a charge. Not sure if there's really a fix. Your options might just be to either continue using it while it's plugged in or purchase a new controller.

Well, when I plug it in, it starts charging. But after about 3-4 seconds, it says "charge complete." Wouldnt that mean it is holding the charge?

Could it be the battery not sitting correctly in the controller?

We have this with some of our rechargeable stuff at work. Plugging the cord into the battery moves the battery slightly and it works again. You could try just shaking the battery around a bit see if it is the connection that is the problem?

Hmm, alright, I'll mess around with it. Thanks.

Check the USB cable first. Sometimes an incomplete connection or spotty USB cable connection will cause this behavior. If that doesn't fix it, I'm afraid your controller battery is dead or close to it.

Nope. The battery is dead. Beware the replacement batteries available on Ebay. Most of them are utter shit.

I got one from these guys, and it's perfect.

    Meh. Okay, thanks.

I guess I could just get something like this. Seems like a good deal:

I've been wanting to play Ghosts of Sparta or whatever it's called anyway.

Wow that's an awesome deal, considering that the collection alone is $39.99.

Both God of War games are pretty good too, especially Ghost of Sparta.
