I know they changed it during beta so that you couldn't get placed in diamond off the bat. But I've had experience placing straight into it after Master was added. At least I think I have.
I know 2s is completely different and gives zero fucks where it places you.
E: I will ZvZ you on NA/KR/SEA in that order of preference if you want. I haven't really played in almost 2 months until just now.

after watching that highlight reel, all I have to say is lolghosts
So far the superior Korean strategies I have witnessed include:
2gas before pool, lair, infestation pit, spire with 6 lings for defence.
2techlab rax -> reactor factory -> reactor starport 1 base forever push out into banelings.

it seems like every protoss has a really well practiced two base build that they resort to when they just want to win a game in PvZ (see: anything MC has done), and Inca just doesn't really seem to have a decent one (which is weird, because again, he's on the same team as MC, king of two base)

So Kambing and I sort of somewhat vaguely indirectly talked about our CSL last night.
It generally feels CSL Light has a bigger attendance pool, which would make sense based on the league popullation distributions.
So, how often should CSLs and CSLLs be?
Once every 3 months for CSL and once every 2 months for CSLLs?
Something different?
Maybe a team league sort of like the Arcadia thingie that was attempted not too long ago?
also also, page 2 is for noobs
ed: For those who weren't around before:
CSL Light was Practice League to Platinum
CSL was Diamond to GM
Arcadia was a league we attempted to set up, with teams and regular matches and stuff. Some of the team names were... interesting... and Dover's icon at the time was.... more interesting.

You can place straight into diamond now, but sometimes you still only place into plat after going 5-0.
I made a game! Hotline Maui. Requires mouse and keyboard.
vods will now be hosted on youtube, which can only be a good thing

Yeah, I'm happy about it. Youtube is a better venue, and being tied to one specific tournament can be awkward, at the very least.

I think the fun part about the tournaments is they get everyone online all at once. This gets more people casting, watching, in the mumble, overall just drives the experience. The big holiday tournament showed how good this is.
So I suggest a format where both tourneys happen at the same time. Then the winner of the CSLL feeds into the semi final of the CSL, as an underdog candidate.
This way a natural audience is accumulating, and secondary things like streaming/casting can build up based on the population present.
You start the CSLL something like an hour before the CSL so the timings work out, probably with just a bo3 final. Maybe the CSL is all bo3 with bo5 final, while the semis/finals of the CSLL is bo3 with a bo1 first round.
I am really partial to the idea of a team league where we draw our own team logos and etc etc. But I think proleague format is always preferable, but more difficult with varied skill levels. Something like a rule where you can only play players based on ascending league order might be interesting. And rules like you must play 2 players platinum league and below (in a bo7).
We tried a team league back in beta, but predictably it was impossible to get everyone to play their games because of things coming up/laziness/etc and it died out after a few weeks. We also had a lot more active players back then, so I don't see it working out now.
LF Terran practice partner to show me how to TvT. I really don't know what to do in this match-up at all.
So. There are three general things you can do. Sky Terran (Vikings, Banshees, Ravens, BCs), Bio(mech), and Mech.
These are all general ideas to pursue over the entire game. They all have their strengths and weaknesses.
-Sky terran is nigh unstoppable if you don't prepare for it early enough, and allows for some excellent attacks, but is REALLY expensive.
-Bio is very mobile and exploits the static play of a mech player with constant drops and the occasional doom drop(Which can win games). And you can add tanks later as the mech player gets too hard to deal with.
-Mech is all around the best if you have the strategic mindset to utilize it. Slow and steady wins the race. Turtle on 3bases until you are maxxed on hellions, tanks, the odd thor and some vikings(for air control)
Common openings:
1rax FE. This is best for a bio player, because as soon as you expand, take one gas, add three more rax and get stim. You should easily crush a marine tank viking players opening 1base push this way.
1/1 Reactored Rax, Fact w/ techlab. Marine tank is an old standard and allows for good cheese defense and a strong early push. Proxy a rax to use as sight if you really want to be annoying with this build.
1/1/1 Destiny Cloud Fist. Do whatever the hell you want, you are terran and nearly everything we have is viable. Common variations of 1/1/1 are banshee rush, cloaked banshee rush, 3/4 hellion drop or (my favorite) reaper hellion medivac. In any case, you can transition out of this however you want, just be warned, if you went 1/1/1 and the opposing player FEd, and you don't do enough damage, you will likely lose, unless you are the first to set a contain up.
BioMech is the easiest to control and sacrifices the full mobility of bio and the nigh unstoppableness of mech to find a nice balance between the two. It's what I use anyway.

Let's say you have Team A - Masters+Plat, Team B - Masters+Plat
Only the higher ranked players on each team matter. The results of the Platinum players wouldn't matter, as the winning Masters player would (99% of the time I'll assume) stomp the Plat player in the final match.
Three player teams seems doable and would give the Masters players who never ladder something to do.
Maybe bonus points for upsets/leagues to make it fair. Like beating a Masters= 5 pts, Diamond 4, Plat 3, Gold 2, Silver/Bronze 1 and a bonus point for each league lower you are (so a Plat beating a Diamond = 5 points, a Gold beating a Masters = 8 etc).

Loosely enforced, but would make for exciting matches.

The worst thing about marine-tank is that it's so common that it'll often be marine-tank vs marine-tank. That is the worst. And since it's so common, why not use a strategy that is most effective against it, which is mech.
I go mech. I lose to people who are really good with marine-marauder-tank and do smart drops; and players who transition into sky terran very smartly. Which is to say I don't lose TvT at all because people at my level are durr durr I MAEK MARINE I MAEK TANK.

teams of 2, person A plays person A, person B plays person B (bo1 or bo3, depends on round)
if it's 2-0 that team advances, if it's 1-1 the winners of each match play each other to decide it
edit: allows for team strategy and stuff while remaining brief and not needing tons of people
also for balance could pair a diamond-masters with plat or lower?
Interesting.
I like this idea quite a bit.
