Ok a bit more fleshed out version of my character:
Aaran Hunt: Human Soldier weapon specialist.
Short Version:
Aaran washed out of the Imperial Military after the navy glassed part of the planet Falleen.
Now working off and on as a mercenary/private investigator, Aaran tries to continue to protect and serve like he originally pledged when he was younger.
Long Version Spoilered below:
Background: Aaran was already in his mid 30's by the time the first Death Star was destroyed. In his mid 20s, the gruff man had still been idealistic about maintaining "order" throughout the galaxy. His father had been a member of the Republic military, and Aaran gladly followed in his footsteps. However, as the Empire became more and more ruthless in its attempts to stamp out any kind of rebellion, the young man slowly but surely began to question why he was fighting.
The final straw was when his unit was assigned to Falleen 7 years ago. They were to be a part of an operation to find and stop the spread of a biological weapon purported to have been created by a terrorist organization. Not long after arriving and seeing the suffering firsthand that the native Falleen endured, his unit was withdrawn so that the Imperial Navy could turn the entire region into glass from orbit. Rumors began to spread that it wasn't a terrorist organization at all that had created the biological weapon, instead it had been a secret Imperial facility.
Aaron quit in disgust, making his way off planet the very next opportunity he had. For several years, he wandered remote planets, drinking himself nearly to death in whatever seedy waterhole he could find. Life had no meaning, everything he ever believed in turned upside down. He eventually cleaned himself up enough to realize that he could still "protect and serve" others in his own way. Aaron became something of a Private Investigator/ Bounty Hunter. He only took cases which involved finding missing people, saving kidnapped children, things of that nature. However, he still has a bit of a drinking problem, and has lost a bit of his physical toughness that comes with being a soldier.
Aaron views the Rebellion as idealistic, and until the destruction of the Death Star, misguided. He's taken a few jobs for them in the past, usually working with teams to extract high-level officials from Imperial-controlled worlds. He has yet to truly throw his hat in with them.
Submission #1: IG-145 "Iggington" (Don't call him Iggy)
Discovered and salvaged after the battle of Kashyyk toward the end of the Clone Wars, this IG-100 Magnaguard chassis was reprogrammed as a butler/bodyguard for a well-to-do Wookie family. He is extremely proper, well versed in etiquette, and ready to serve tea or twist the head off a potential threat at a moment's notice.
Proposed class-soldier
What he brings- comic relief and PAIN
Submission #2: Ryo Creel "Who Walks the Center Path"
Ryo is a human male from Vena who belongs to a Force using tradition native to his homeworld, similar to Jedi in that it is a sect of Force-using warrior monks. He despises the Empire because of its efforts to kill him and his mother during the Purges, and he views the Jedi as naive old monks that as good as let the Empire take charge of the galaxy.
Proposed class- Jedi (Jensaari tradition). He's a Force user that refuses to fight with a Lightsabre, relying on blasters and Force Techniques to get by and stay under the Empire's radar.
What he brings- He's a pilot, a fighter, and not bad with a computer.
Edit: I do have references, but most of those games fizzled out a while ago. I was in daniant's game for a while until my computer crapped out on me and I had to spend a month internetless while I saved up to have it fixed. I usually post at least once a day in these games.

i would just like everyone to bear in mind while working on concepts that the first thing that is going to happen is that a rebel recruiter is going to send you on a test mission to 'prove your worth'. so, one or two characters already working for the rebellion is fine, but you are supposed to be a bunch of nobodies.

Zithra accidentally shot and killed her brother when she was a young girl and her parents sold her to the Hutts in their rage and grief. She ended up on Nar Shaddah as a slave, where life was not worth living, but she did learn things. Important things. Like how to steal information. By the time she was 19 she had blackmailed the Hutt who owned her to get her freedom, hitched a ride on a ship headed anywhere else, and vowed to get revenge on those who had wronged her, no matter how long it took.

Her family makes most of its money on the black market and even though Ruun is a woman she was her father's only child and was entrusted by him to take care of his investments off of Ryloth. She's got her hands in some pretty shady deals, but she has her principles and deep down needs to prove to her family that a woman can do anything a man can do.

I like this post because I enjoyed my character. She was an a strange fit for a game set in Castlevania, but I really enjoyed making her a tough little sunovabitch. I also liked using anachronistic language to suggest that she was from a different place in the world. She was an elf and I developed a whole backstory and plot to explain why there were elves in Castlevania, and the language was part of that.
Final note: I would like to play Zithra the best, since I haven't played a bad-ass in a long time, but I understand if she won't fit into the campaign/group well.
Edit: Changed my pic. I wanted someone younger and tougher-looking after writing my extended backstory.
SW:ToR has made me come up with like a million character concepts, but because I haven't played a PBP RPG in years, I'm failing to actually find any posts by me. I went back to 2008 and then quit. But hey, I want to make the post later because of all of the ideas I've had, and I think I'll just quote a post or two from a pvp I'm running on a private forum.
When the Empire deserted her outpost after rumors of an imminent Rebel fleet, she deserted the army, and returned to her city to keep the peace. Man Toop is not inclined towards either side, but wants to keep people safe above all else.
Primarily soldier, I'm thinking, but a dash of scout for recon or scoundrel or flexibility could also work.
She's not a meat-head, but she is mostly trained to work with a fight, both in terms of blaster shots and how to manage the overall situation.
Skill focuses would be something like Knowledge (tactics), Treat Injury, Use Computer, and Mechanics.

Cerean Scoundrel/Scout Ta-Rana
She was born on the streets of a semi-core Empire world, and she's been living on her wits ever since. If you need to get into the governor's house and plant a bug while taking out any troublesome guards, she's your gal.
Scout and Scoundrel are the big ones here, and probably I'd take some of both.
Rana's not a front-line fighter, but she is deft at taking the occasional long-range shot, and sneaking in to sabotage the turrets beforehand.
Acrobatics/Persuasion/Gather Information/Stealth/Initiative for Scoundrel, Endurance/Jump/Perception/Ride/Stealth/Knowledge (galactic lore) for Scout.
I kept going back and forth on putting somethign forward for this. Figured I'd give you something to say no to Psolms.
Raesh-Tulan a Yarkora who knows you better than you know yourself.
Description: Raesh-Tulan is a man in a hurry with nowhere to go. He loves the game of life and sees everything as a challenge to be overcome.
Classes: Scout or Noble.
Archtype/Role: The charming and mysterious con artist. Raesh-Tulan has acquired some useful underwolrd connections during his time on a number of unsavory worlds. He's also perfected a technique for gathering the sort of information that would usually require torture with nothing more than a bit of charm. If you need a master of deception and guile go no further, you've arrived.

go ahead and submit. the references are for me to get an idea of how your style of play will fit with my own and the rest of the party. if you dont have anything you want to submit, i would also accept an example in-character post (please use spoiler tags for this...)
updating the list of characters (and adding roles):
Arc - Adrian Calderas, the heir to a jedi legacy
fading - Fitzburrough "Sweet Fitzy" Sweet, demolitions expert/sabatuer
steelhawk - Tarl Nisbet, the pirate; Xirria, the legitimate face
heir - Aaran Hunt, weapon specialist and meat sheild
witch hunter - IG-145 AKA Iggington AKA Iggy, the bodyguard butler; Ryo Creel, the pilot/fighter/force user
dani - Zithra Melitch, the slicer; Ruun Taa, the driven money maker
Captain Carrot - Man Toop, the good soldier; Ta-Rana, the sniper
Sak - Raesh-Tulan, the con man
piL - Ence Edniat'hua, force using mechanic; UNCLE, survivalist droid
Of course I have to go and make things difficult. That's why my first character concept needs his own force tradition.
Edit: Trimmed the fat. I hope that's better.
Name: Ence Edniat'hua
A force using tech-specialist techshaman. Ence is a member of a unique force tradition spawned out of desperate salvaging that prizes mechanical ingenuity, either a shaman or a warrior from that tradition. Probably a scoundrel, but possibly a soldier or a noble depending on the emphasis we want to take. Even if a soldier, probably not a lot of combat feats/talents, so still not the head honcho fighter. I think Wroonian would be a cool race for this.
Name: UNCLE
A care-taker hunting/protecting droid who outlived its charges on an abandoned backwater planet. Discovered by the Republic, is using the opportunity to get off world to explore the universe and, more importantly, investigate the fate of its creator.
PBP example: I haven't PBPd in a very very long time, but here's an example from the WoD I've been running on another forum. We're pretty early on in the game, so I don't have a lot of material to choose from, but here's one character's intro:
It's 11pm on a Wednesday night at The Bleeding Hart, a biker bar right next to the interstate, in that spot before you get into a town where diners, gas stations, and cheap hotels live. Daniel Jones sits alone at a table nursing a drink and collecting his thoughts. Even a man like Daniel Jones needs to keep office hours, and these were his. This is where he organized his affairs and made his plans, only with a lot less paperwork. Plus when you have something to sell, you have to be findable, and this was his way of getting himself out there.
On this night at the Bleeding Hart, things are running fairly normally. It's not empty, but it's not busy either, and patrons form small groups. A few groups of travelers looking for somewhere to be while they wait to go to bed sit alone at the bar. A few groups of locals form small enclaves to themselves while regulars distract the employees from the slow night. But one thing stands out to Daniel, and that's the three gentlemen in the corner.
One, with his back to Daniel talks to the other two, long greasy black hair obscuring his face, he's dressed in a simple T-shirt from some band he's never heard of and a pair of torn jeans. Leaning against a post, a wall of a man with short red hair a thick busy beard and numerous tattoos listens with his arms crossed. The most outlandish of the three men is an African American, thin and lanky, immaculately dressed in a fine suit whose fashions are past Daniel's ken. It's not just the man's out-pf-place suit that draws Daniel's focus, but more so how nobody else in the bar seems to pay them any mind. Servers don't approach them, people don't make an effort to avoid them, passing mere inches from the man with his back turned, as if they didn't even notice him sitting there.
The more I think about it the more Soldier is better for Fitz. Scout secondary, Scoundrel a distant third.
i think scoundrel with tech specialist would be best for someone good with mechanics, but thats just me.
I KEEP THINKING ABOUT THIS
I still think any of the three would would work - just differently - but I wonder how successful a saboteur could be without Deception or Stealth? I also realized that Sol does not have access to any Knowledge skills other than Tactics, which is a big bummer.
Sct : Knowledge skill access, Stealth access, Skill count, good talents generally
Sol : Demolitions talent, Use Computer access, good BAB, HP
Scn : Deception Access, Use Computer Access, Knowledge skill access, Stealth access, Skill count, Tech Specialist tree, Gather Info access, free PB Shot starting feat
I think the ideal version might be Scoundrel L1, and then Soldier levels thereafter.
There's a pretty cool saboteur prestige class in The Force Unleashed book. All it requires is being trained in Deception, Mechanics, and Use Computer, if you're interested in that option at all.

It could depend upon what sort of saboteur. You only really need deception if your sort of saboteur actually talks to people. This would be the Scoundrel. The Soldier shoots them and the Scout avoids them.
The soldier is going to be the most straight-forward kind. There it is, go blow it the fuck up, and if somebody tries to stop you well too bad for them. Blowing it up is always the right solution, the finesse part is where you put the explosives.
The scoundrel is going to be the sneakier one who probably has the most training and bothers to read the manuals. More of a professional safecracker type who is going to mess your shit up and you won't know it until it is too late. Can probably pull it off without messing up his hair.
The scout is the one with the raw talent. Not being seen, getting in and out of difficult places, and knowing which handful of wires to yank out to get the desired effect are all part of his deal. Don't overthink it, you pull that one thing then cut that other thing, duh. Stupid engineers.
Yeah I can see all those paths working. The way Fitz is shaped up in my mind, he's a soldier by trade but crafty by nature. I think that's why I'm leaning towards scn1 sol2+ if I have all my druthers (getting picked, picking class).
I'm trying to decide whether to build IG-145 as a custom droid with a IG-100 Magnaguard chassis, or just take the pre-built IG-100 droid profile and RP heavily with the butler personality he's been programmed with.
Either way you guys will be getting straight up class.
If you can't beat them, arrange to have them beaten in your presence.

please note, this does not mean recruitment is closed. what it does mean, however, is that if your character is on the first list, but not on the second, those characters will not be selected.
for those characters i named, i would like to know the following:
-a less brief history
-personality traits
-an ally (a friend, not in the party)
-an enemy
-something you love
-something (other than the empire) you hate
-who else in the party do you know?
-why do you hate the empire?
Get ready for some backstory, folks. As a warning, some of this is very grim:
Zithra was born on Faldos in the Outer Rim to a pair of junk traders. When she was four, her brother Maj was born, and she understood for the first time that her parents never loved her, judging by the way they doted over their baby boy and ignored her. Nevertheless, she grew fond of Maj, taking care of him while her parents worked. When she was twelve she started working at the junk yard too, and her dad gave her two mini-speeders to fix up. She got them both running and she and Maj would go whizzing out beyond town to shoot cans and get into trouble. They would mark out a course and set up targets along it, then see who could run the course the fastest with the most targets hit. Maj usually won. One evening they set out and Maj lost control of his speeder and swerved into her line of fire. Zithra barely managed to avoid losing control herself, but his speeder ran into a rock and exploded, and Maj was dead.
After the funeral, her parents wouldn’t look at her or speak her name. About a month later some slavers stopped the family business to get parts. Zithra was in the back of the shop and saw her dad and mom look back at her, nod, and take a credit chip. A few minutes later she was being dragged aboard a ship. She was fourteen years old.
Sold to the Hutts in Nar Shaddaa, at first she was used as a dancing girl in a pleasure palace in the Promenade and suffered every kind of abuse. Then, caught one night stealing a debit code off a client’s credit chip, she was presented before Subu the Hutt, an information trader. He had her trained to steal information from computer databases, and before long she was breaking into security accounts and stealing everything she could.
One evening as she presented Subu with her latest find, she mentioned that she had also been in contact with rebel leader Dagmar Kell. One touch of her datapad and she would send him every piece of information that she had ever gathered for Subu. Some of this included important information she had gathered about the Empire including a new ship design. She was sure that they would take a dim view of Subu distributing that kind of information to rebel leaders, especially those aligned against the Hutts. Why, he would be branded as a traitor. And the trail would clearly lead back to him, not to her.
Why not let her go instead? She would hand over the datapad, all her datachips, everything she had on her, if he would put her on a ship out of here. Subu didn’t hesitate. It was easier to get rid of someone like her this way. Killing her would have just caused more problems, since he was just renting her and didn’t own her outright. He could say that she escaped.
A few hours later, after being stripped down and cavity-checked, Zithra found herself with a new wardrobe and nothing else. Well, nothing else those idiots could find. She pulled a filched credit chip out of her hairdo and smiled, pocketing it. As far as she could tell, she was headed for rebel space…
Zithra is aggressive, tough, and sarcastic. She has only ever talked about her childhood and the despair she felt as a slave with another dancing girl, a young Twi’lek named Eenah. After she was rented to Subu, she rarely saw Eenah, who remained at the pleasure palace. She regrets not getting her out of there too and knows she'll return one day and set her free.
Zithra hates the Hutts, especially Subu, who enjoyed pawing her as she provided him with her data. She also has a special place in her planned revenge for the bounty hunter Heu Talon that first raped her when she was brought to Nar Shaddaa. She knows that he paid a very high price to have sex with a virgin, and she’d like to have that paid back in his blood.
More than anything, Zithra loves freedom. She’s promised herself she would kill herself rather than be taken captive again. She hates the Empire precisely because they permit slavery and the violence and pain that goes along with it. She's heard that the Rebels want to set up a government that doesn't allow slavery and wants to civilize the outer rim, and she's all for that. She'd like to personally "civilize" a lot of people herself.
Zithra’s revenge plan includes: returning to Nar Shaddaa, killing Subu, killing her old owner, releasing the dancing girls at the pleasure palace, and sending a holopic to her parents of herself standing in front of the Hutts’ blasted bodies with a wicked smile on her face.
Zithra could have met anyone on her flight in. For instance, Tarl could have been her pilot, and anyone could have been a co-passenger.

________________________

I'll get my other concept up today.
Either way you guys will be getting straight up class.
psolms is it too late? if not I'll drop a post in later tonight, if so ignore me.

also, just as an FYI, im going to be requiring a more detailed look at some of your characters. there are too many good ideas, and now i want to narrow it down further.
to that note, here is my list of characters currently:
Arc - Adrian Calderas, the heir to a jedi legacy
fading - Fitzburrough "Sweet Fitzy" Sweet, demolitions expert/sabatuer
steelhawk - Tarl Nisbet, the pirate; Xirria, the legitimate face
heir - Aaran Hunt, weapon specialist and meat sheild
witch hunter - IG-145 AKA Iggington AKA Iggy, the bodyguard butler; Ryo Creel, the pilot/fighter/force user

Sak - Raesh-Tulan, the con man
piL - Ence Edniat'hua, force using mechanic; UNCLE, survivalist droid
if i missed any, please let me know. for now, i would like to hear more about the following characters:
Adrian Calderas
Fitzburrough "Sweet Fitzy" Sweet
Tarl Nisbet
Zithra Melitch
Raesh-Tulan
UNCLE
please note, this does not mean recruitment is closed. what it does mean, however, is that if your character is on the first list, but not on the second, those characters will not be selected.
for those characters i named, i would like to know the following:
-a less brief history
-personality traits
-an ally (a friend, not in the party)
-an enemy
-something you love
-something (other than the empire) you hate
-who else in the party do you know?
-why do you hate the empire?
Edit: God I wanna play this character now.
